My auntie's mitsubishi fridge lasted for 30 years.

Imo, replace with a new 3 or 4 ticks fridge. The savings from electricity will make it worthwhile.

Manufacturers and brands do fluctuate in quality.
It is sometimes due to a bad CEO. Or a string of bad CEOs.
Kodak is a classic case.
Now Boeing is another case.
Fridge brands that were good in the past can now be bad.
Maybe due to cost cutting.
Have noticed LG and Samsung try to outdo each other now in "features'.
Both LG and Samsung top range fridges can be Very Expensive nowadays.
Whereas brand like Smeg stands out from the rest using its design outlook.

In a fridge, washing machine or TV, consumers generally want reliability.
The other aspects of the appliance are not so important.

Yes, sadly China's pte businesses were so flushed with money last 10yrs and they bought many trusted brands we know of.
Volvo and Polestar, Proton and Lotus now belongs to Geely Chinese
Toshiba, Aiwa Chinese
Motorola belong to Lenovo
GE appliances belongs to Haier Chinese...
Damn sad **** my childhood Aiwa Walkman and discman is now Chinese company

Sharp, Hitachi, Panasonic/Matsush*ta, Mitsubishi. These are the only true Japanese brands to remain firmly in Japanese control.

Volkswagen Auto Group, BMW Group and Mercedes-Benz AG. These are the last 3 pure German blood brands.
