Sharp, Hitachi, Panasonic/Matsush*ta, Mitsubishi. These are the only true Japanese brands to remain firmly in Japanese control.

Volkswagen Auto Group, BMW Group and Mercedes-Benz AG. These are the last 3 pure German blood brands.
Since 2016, Sharp company is majority owned by Taiwan-based manufacturer Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd., better known as Foxconn.

Honestly, it is heng suay situation.

What is more important is the warranty and after care service.

My Samsung fridge stopped working 6 months in, but my MIL’s Samsung fridge lasted for 10 years.

I bought mine from Courts and the after care service was a fcking pain in the ass. Warranty is still effective, but I can’t even replace the spoiled fridge with a new one. I had to arrange for a repair man to first come down and check before submitting a request for the repair parts and temporary unit (not guaranteed) - a process which will take 2-3 weeks lmao

just avoid complicated fridge with too many nonsense features.
the more features, the more easily you can have breakdown.

Sanyo and National were the best for household appliances.

Awesome reliability and durability.

Can easily last more than 20 years. No horse run.
Only these 2 are real Japanese pride and made to last….. current jap brands direction also like Korean and China brands or else how they survive till today

nowadays just get anything cheap and throw and repeat

Here are some general tips on how to pick your fridge/ make your fridge last:

1. Pick the fridge with least complicated functions. The more fanciful functions, the more points of failure. This is because it need more wiring and programming to function. So no knock knock to see, ice or water maker, etc. simpler the better

2. Guidelines to placement gaps, sides and back, must be adhered. This will allow enough airflow and not overheat it

3. If possible, try to vacuum the dust behind the fridge (need to remove panel) . This will keep your fridge running a long time
