This app is actually quite useless.

Case in point.

Installed in 3 of my iPhones.

1. Iphone 6 (bought in mar 2015). Battery Condition reported as perfect
2. IPhone 6+ (bought in Sep 2014). Battery condition reported as 72%
3. IPhone 6s+ (bought in Dec 2015). Battery condition reported as 98%

For the iPhone 6, I just did a complete reset 2 weeks back.

How is the app useless when it does what it's supposed to do? - Tell you your battery tear level

It's available free here - http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutbattery/
Need to connect your phone to view the stats on your Mac though

Standalone app here - https://appsto.re/sg/zeBBab.i

Maybe you overcharged 6+ and 6s+ more than you did so for your ip6, many factors

Its quite accurate for me showing a 14% wear level after 2 years of usage.

All 3 phones are in use as per normal.

Average daily charging at night when I sleep. Which is why I suspect the app is just using usage stats average to "determine" the wear and tear and not a proper diagnostic of the battery instead.

With the iPhone 6 just recently refreshed and rebooted, all info is new and thus the app decides the battery as brand new and little wear and tear.

Huh?

I rebooted my phone and checked the capacity with the app and then connected it to my Mac to check again with coconutBattery - it's the same.

As in factory reset.

Not just reboot.

I am also quite concern with my battery condition, esp the 2 iPhone 6, esp the iPhone 6 (no Apple care and the warranty just expired) bcos I bought AppleCare+ only for my 6+ So still can go back Apple

So when I saw the discussion on the app which can check the wear and tear usage, I installed on all 3 sets and was a bit "disappointed" when I saw my 6+ still at 72% after almost 1.5 years of usage but was surprised to see the 6 was perfect while my 6s+ is already down 2% after 4 months of use.

Which the only logical explanation is that the battery stats is gathered from the usage stats as I have just factory reset my ip6 2-3 weeks ago.

My iPhone 6+ used for 1.5 yrs++ already. Only 7% wear based on the battery test app.

The battery stats is gathered from the internal battery itself...(the temperature and charge cycles etc are also extracted)

The logical explanation is... your 6+ has a bad battery.. who says all battery will perform the same?

Don't believe then factory reset your 6+ :o

this doesnt sound too right... fully refurbished with sealed box....:s11:

I see. Price was definitely cheaper than official Apple Store

The plain box ( not apples box) is was sealed with the sticker "do not accept if seal is broken"

Bad Experience at Service Centre

I would like to share my experience at the Authorised Apple Repair Centre at Plaza Singapura.

My iPhone 6s started behaving strangely, with flickering screen and faulty off button on Monday. It is only 4 months old. I booked an appointment and went down to Plaza Sing. However, I had still had to wait 20 minutes even though I had an appointment and arrived on time.

After taking the phone in for diagnostics, I was told the phone was perfectly fine by the service staff called Esmund. So I asked why I could not turn off the phone then... After that, the service staff tried to turn off the phone, and concluded that it was faulty.. which was clearly stated in my list of reported faults. [Some competence issue here I think...] He told me to come back in 10 minutes to collect a new phone. I came back after 10 minutes, and was to to come back later... After more waiting, I was told that there was water damage in my phone and refused to honour their warranty.

I disputed their assessment as I did not submerge my phone in water, nor did I abuse it in any way. It has always been protected with a good cover and tempered glass screen protector from day 1. So, I was directed to call the AppleCare line... which I did.

The AppleCare person called Elijah asked Esmund to check if the liquid damage indicator in the phone was triggered... After checking, Esmund said it was not, but the corrosion in the phone was consistent with liquid damage. I think the phone was probably damaged by condensation, which is why the liquid damage indicator was not triggered.... but the service centre was trying to deny service so that they can save cost.

Elijah told Esmund to send him pictures of the phone and told me that he will contact me within the same day on their assessment... which he did not.

This evening, I contacted Apple via chat and asked them to provide photos of the damage, which they refused even though they have it (since Esmund sent it to them). They asked me to get it from Esmund myself.

I have spent so much time trying to solve this issue with no outcome, and constantly being asked to jump through hoops. I believe Apple has something to hide. The phone must be designed poorly such that it can be damaged via liquid even though it was not submerged or splashed with water. It must be condensation from my constant movement in and out of aircon. However, they refused to hand over the pictures so that the truth will never get out... and they can continue to refuse warranty service.

When I went back to the office and told my story, my boss laughed and said the exact same thing happened to him. However, he signed up with the AppleCare+ plan and they took care of his phone.

There must be many such cases of liquid damage in humid Singapore, and Apple will continue to deny warranty service.

Be warned.... I have been a loyal iPhone user for years... but my next phone will be a Samsung.

The apple chat staff are locals ? if its really what you said, you should raise it on the official apple forums for them to take notice. Or maybe someone over there already reported it

Thanks for the info, I do find it frustrating when you wanna get stuff fixed but customer service throw you around, personally I have an iPhone 6s too and last month I went for a sauna for 2hrs with my phone! And it wasn't damaged. Unless submerged in water then there might be issue. But for your case the water damage indicator was ok means there's a flaw for your phone. Is yours under AppleCare?

as long as there is applecare+, pls do get it. you will never go wrong with it. Did you know.... applecare+ CAN be refunded for the unused portion of the remaining days. so if you have changed phones halfway before the applecare+ is up, you can call up Apple to have them refund the balance to you.

Applecare+ is just so that we can avoid going to the AASP and get ourselves frustrated with the waiting and agony of whether they will repair to your device. Enough all those bullsheet. We have seen many bros and threads about our local AASP... sigh.

Eagerly waiting for the genius bar to be setup in Singapore....

Mine is not under AppleCare. The AASP service is horrible. Basically, they do not wholly honour the warranty.

If you had gone into the sauna and out in the aircon later, some moisture would have built up in the phone. Going by the anecdotal evidence I have, the phone will slowly corrode. After that, they will not fix it for you. Mind you... I did not go in the sauna or ill treat the phone, but they refused my service anyway, based on their one sided evidence.

What you are saying is... iPhones do not have real solid warranties. You have to pay extra for a real warranty. In which case, we should price in AppleCare when we make our phone choice. This is not right as iPhones are expensive.
