Woah....after reading all your horror stories, looks like its really hard to find a good PDI.
think i'm lucky to a certain extend.

Mine actually work in partnership with another instructor.
Initial lessons are by his partner, lets call him Mr. T

Mr. T, allowed me to drive almost straight away on my first lesson (I did not have any prior experience, totally new to driving), he showed me the basics then let me drive around in a carpark, before asking me to drive outside to the roads...the first lesson was pretty good, he also teach me 3-point turn and basic parking.

After that basically 75% of all the lessons i'm doing parking...parallel and vertical, did not have much driving outside and changing lane (which i'm very weak at), it became very routine.
Most of the time Mr. T, would fall asleep once we reach the carpark and I started doing my parking.........it was quite boring.........but I also became quite good at parking......so not sure if I should be complaining.......

Towards my test, the main PDI, lets call him Mr. O, took over from Mr. T
Boy! it was a world of difference, Mr. O is damn good and he does not take pee breaks (at least not during my lessons anyway, Mr. T pee break quite standard 10-15mins every lesson)

Mr. O is very professional, he explains things very clearly, draws charts and stuff (Mr.T not very good at explain things...)
And I can feel he genuinely wants me to understand and pass my test, because he is very busy sometimes my lesson with him can be late like 10pm to 11pm or 11.30pm but he doesn't mind......

If he had started teaching me earlier I probably wont need to take so many lessons from Mr. T and would have saved some $$$

He teaches Auto, BBDC.

Hi, Can I have Mr O's contact? TIA

1) Mr Ong Teck Kiat was my driving instructor, he taught my brother 11-12 years ago as well.
His facebook is: http://www.facebook.com/teckkiat.ong
His handphone number is: 9383 2788

Quite a good instructor imo, pass 2nd time at 20+ lesson.
First TP was 10+ lesson.

2) Mr Seow Eng Wah took me for 1 or 2 lessons for circuit when Mr Ong Teck Kiat dont have enough circuit slots at that time.
His handphone number is: 9111 0909

Both Ong and Seow drives a Mitsubishi Lancer GLX 1.6 Manual
Both are very experienced imo, they know the common errors people made while driving. Eg know my back wheel going to mount kerb cos i turn too fast and too soon, car jerk cos release clutch too fast, know i turn too late/early, gear never engage properly.

As for Mr peck and Mr Ang i have can't comment because i didn't have any lesson with them. However you can google "Peck Chin Huat", i think i saw some reviews about him which you may be interested to read

I am learnt from Mr Ong too.. believe I post before about him and I personally feel he is good.. pickup normal at Gombak MRT.. his carplate is 5800 red lancer (M)

Hi all

I seldom write reviews but I just have to share my wonderful story. I am 20 years old and I passed my practical driving test 1 year ago with 8 points on my FIRST attempt.

I took my test at woodlands driving circuit under the driving instructor Steven Ong Choon Tee. In short, he is a stern but extremely reliable instructor. If you can get past his temper, you'll likely pass on your first attempt. He is sort of a no-nonsense instructor who teaches you to pass in his own way. I heard he has been teaching for 40 years now.

Here are his details:

Name: Steven Ong Choon Tee
Rates: Off Peak (8am-5pm) - $28/hr
Peak (5pm onwards) - $30/hr
Contact: pm me for contact
Area: Teaches near admiralty MRT station
One-time enrollment fee of $50
Duration of lesson: 1hr 30 mins
Teaches manual

His schedule is usually very packed so you'll have to call him early and arrange for a lesson. I took a total of roughly 23-25 lessons to pass on my first try.

Try him guys, you will be in safe hands.

Pm me for more enquiries

He scolds vulgarities all day. He is an extremely poor instructor. Beware of engaging this pdi or you will regret it.:( Anyway, this post is an advertising post so be careful.

got question guys, my private instructor just requested another $15 on top of my $20 booking fees, claims that CDC now charges additional 15 for circuit on test date, true/false ?

Oh dear, I just read this post and I feel so sorry for the both of you. :(

No, seriously. No one deserves to be treated like that. If I'd known earlier, I would never have shared him with you guys. I am truly sorry.

I wish to clarify that what I'd posted previously was truly based on my own experiences with Steven, and I tried to be as truthful and unbiased as possible.

Like I said in my post, his temper is the thing to look out for. "In short, he is a stern but extremely reliable instructor. If you can get past his temper, you'll likely pass on your first attempt." During my lessons with him, I was scolded many times - albeit not as harsh as some of you.

If you can still bear with me, I'll like to explain why I felt his temper paid off. Firstly, I went to him through a recommendation from a friend, just like any of you, and at the same time hoping that he's a good and reliable instructor.

He was not.

Or at least, that's what I felt during the first few lessons. I was scolded repeatedly and felt like giving up many times. Sometimes I even wanted to drive badly just to piss him off. Then come the day of my practical test. (I stuck with him cause I did not want to disappoint my friend who introduced him to me)

I assure you I thought I was definitely going to fail the first time, because Steven was still scolding me on the last few days. But somehow, just somehow, I managed to remember every single important part where I went wrong during his lessons - which would have caused me to fail. I cleared my slope obstacle perfectly, parked nicely, and even remebered to check every single blindspot.

If you are someone who cannot take criticisms and scoldings, don't go to him. I strongly advise against it, because you WILL be scolded. In the end, I am not going to see him again. I am not going to pay him another single cent. Heck, I don't have a single **** to do with him anymore. I had bloody passed and thats all i care about.

Cliche as it may sound, one man's meat is another man's poison. Taking lessons under Steven worked out well for me - passed the first time with 8 points despite my low confidence going into the test.

Once again, I apologise for any horrible experiences you guys have gone through under him and I am sorry if my post sounded like an advertisement. I sincerely thought it was a harmless sharing of someone I thought was an effective instructor.

Thanks so much for reading my long-winded post. Cheers! :D

PS: The only bad experience I had under him was his temper. I can't comment on his toilet breaks, using laptops, etc. They did not happen to me during his lessons.
