At Yokohama now. Very windy. Seems like there are train delays at Tokyo due to wind. Weather forecast might rain tonight.

Sakura season is early this year. Official start of sakura season already started on 16 march. Optimum blooming seems to be estimated to start around 23 march and end around 2 April. Seems like this year's official sakura tree representative for Tokyo had a record breaking earliest bloom ever. They base the start of sakura season on this particular tree.

I already saw a few bloomed sakura trees at Shinjuku Gyoen on 14 march, saw a few at Kamakura this morning too.

There are different types of sakura trees. And their blooming period differs slightly. You will probably be able to catch parts of sakura season during the first couple of days of your trip...I guess.

Usually the optimum full bloom period only lasts about 1 week for the tree. Right now, even though there r some already bloomed, but most have yet to.

Initially, it was forecasted that the start of sakura season is on 31 march, then they revised it to 25 mar, then 23 mar....and in the end, turns out that the sakura season officially started on 16 march since the official tree bloomed sooo early.

Anyway, most of the sakura trees are just starting to flower, most are still buds... So if u are coming Tokyo early April, u shd still be able to catch sakura season I think.

Anyway, today is extremely hot. 25degrees sia

When will the sakura season end for Tokyo this year?

As of 2 nights ago when I last checked online, the forecast was 23/3 to 2/4 for optimal bloom. But since it was extremely hot today, so it might affect the blooming stages again....not too sure.

My hotel staff today told me that it seems like the blooming date was 10days earlier for this year as compared to last year. So maybe if u check the end of season for last year and minus off 10 days maybe?,

Yar damn hot today. Just got back to Tokyo today and I was overdressed. I actually perspired while running some errands.

Am at ueno park now. The row of sakura trees have bloomed. :) think the hot weather these days brought forward the blooming season.

Wow it is early by 2 weeks! Looks like full bloom now, so technically should last for another 7 days or so

After ueno, I went sumida park. The sakura there have also bloomed...although not as advanced as the ones at ueno because I can still see some buds on some trees.

It's another warm day today. Even though I already took off my jacket and still sweating sia. Not as hot as yesterday but still, it is not a normal temp for March.

Walked so much today....until feet got blisters liao.

Maybe going kawagoe tomorrow...see my mood when I wake up.

Just started to drizzle while I was walking back to my hotel just now...those coming to Japan soon, pls bring umbrella.
