Take 15-20%, invest in some ETFs for the long-term.
50-60% set aside as reserve, put in some FD accts.
The rest, do as you wish, as long as you can last until you find your next job (or windfall)

I have been working in this company for 25 years and am officially retrenched today.

Should I be happy or sad? I am above 50 and currently is tough for me to find a job as I only have a poly diploma.

Any advice?
Good luck
You can apply for jobs but unless your skill sets are pretty unique, you won't get any

Seems like the world has changed.

Even long tenured employees are not spared.

Some judgemental shallow people would fantasizes it's due to their poor performance.

But if really poor employees u think coy retarded will keep them for 2 year/ 12 years or 20 years?

From coy perspective, it's also painful to let go such experienced and possibly low salary senior workers. It only shows how bad the economy is ald.

Don't drag.

Faster go check out all available government support. Some people take break go holiday etc later exceeded the time limit and cannot qualify for support. Some people planned to nuah 3 months later become 6 months later become 2 years later unemployable.

If your industry is still ok and your experience is relevant, start checking out competitors/ suppliers/ customers to see if they are hiring. Get people you know to help refer. Or write in unsolicited. Or talk to recruitment agents.

Of course you don't have to spend 8 hours per day doing the above. There will still be time everyday for hobbies, catching up with family/ friends/ relatives, exercise, home improvement projects. Set aside certain part of each day for job hunt/ courses/ networking and just don't nuah full time.
