If one treats property purely for living in, then we shouldn't buy a condo if it is 2, 3 times the price of hdb. But if in term of investment, combined with living, then even 10 times might still worth the money. Like how come GCB can be 10 times more expensive than normal landed property.

Even For investment purpose, one must not just buy and hope the price will go up. Price go up if there is more demand than supply, at least that applies to resales market.. new launches are at the mercy of developers selling price but i doubt developers can call the shots for long. U think they can really decide the selling price ? Today got people buy but not yet sold out.. in 6 months later, there will be few more launches at a even more crazy price. That will be the time where we should see the response.. if no one buy in the seragoon launches at 1900psf, then they have to drop price right ??

I don't think developers' aim is to launch and sell all units at one go. There means they have priced too low. There is always normal demand where people buy to live and nothing else. These people will slowly join the queue and eventually take up the remaining unsold units. The developers have time.

Nice comparison. But in terms of affordable... imagine apple come up iphone x with pricing of 3000 instead of 3000, and oppo still remain at 500, will majority switch to oppo ??

i would say good comparison but flawed logic bah....

phones... you can go shop and choose either.

HDB and EC... need to ballot. tio liao you decide buy or don't buy.

no tio, cannot even buy one! :s13::s22:

There were plenty of undesired HDB flats unwanted now so were ECs 2 years ago.

You are also never tried getting the latest Samsung/ iPhone 5-7 series a few years before when they first launched.

to be fair, esp for first timers, the ECs just last year, or 2 years back, may not be launched at the right time for couples.

Reasons could be:
this couple just got hitched recently,
Just decided to get married recently,
etc.

meaning these "new couples" dont have the chance to buy the supposed cheaper ECs that were launched in the previous years lor.

essentially, wrong place, wrong time.
