Thats why Radeon, I mean AMD graphics cards are like Fine Wine. They get better with time passed. And I dont usually buy newly released AMD graphics card. I buy it 1-2 years after release. By then, drivers are already mature to enjoy the card. You want the greatest and latest, stick with Nvidia less problematic with drivers. You want price/performance? Go AMD but buy only after 1-2 years after release. By that time you buy, the price have already dropped and at the same time you will encounter less headache from drivers.

5700XT drivers are really problemantic. I am not sure if its gpu design itself or really software. Been facing the black screen for a long long time. I thought it was my monitor issue... Then realise its drivers...lol...

New drivers fixed it largely. But once in a while still get it....Seriously, 5700XT is not good..... rather you get 2070s over this.

You should have bought amd gpu 2 years later. Usually after that timeframe I won't be surprised if 5600xt can match a 2070.

For now go for nvidia as its more stable.

watch from 2:03 to 3:50, finewine may no longer be as significant on navi compared to gcn.

Dont buy amd gpu, just buy the lousiest nvidia rtx card and use dlss 2.0.. you will get way better result compare to anything amd can offer.

Im actually thinking of getting MSI RX 5700XT gaming X, i saw youtube how they solve the issue is to install DDU, firstly delete all ur pas Nvedia drivers, secondly delete all your AMD driver and dont allow window to auto install driver as you will need to manually download from AMD webpage itself and instal manually too. Seems to work for those youtubers.

DDU is a must.. i been using it for years.

Inside DDU, must tick the check box that disable automatic installation of drivers on windows!

However that's not my main point, because nvidia DLSS 2.0 lets you render at low resolutions then upscale it up to 4k resolution. With their AI replacing the rendered texture with their ones, the end result is a better image quality than the native.

Rendering at low resolution means saving a lot of computing power, therefore i believe with the technology enabled. Even the lowest grade RTX GPU can produce ridiculous results.

I see! Thats a good tip! But actually getting the GPU mainly is for gaming wise. Comparing RX 5700XT gaming x with RTX 2060 / 2070, the overall performance for RX 5700XT gaming x i saw on youtuber review is better. But i dint know this GPU cant be used for rendering stuffs

Yes, i am talking about gaming. 5700XT raw performance is better.

However, even the worst RTX card with DLSS 2.0 enabled will be way ahead. Most importantly, from how it was reworked from from 1.0 - 2.0. It now shares the same framework, this can potentially support a wide variety of games, especially AAA titles.

"DLSS" is fundamentally upscaling. You are literally playing the game at a quarter to half your resolution. Only real difference is the developer who wants game(currently only a handful of games support it) to support it, need to train the AI to make sure the resulting upscaled images are not too blurry. It does not work in some cases though... even for 2.0 version. AMD has Radeon Image Sharpening as well..

Without AI to guesstimate, just play at lower resolution and let general upscaling happening. Blurry yes, much better framerates too. Alternative, is to manually do it, via a postprocessing filter like reshade.

That said, nothing beats native rendering crisp and sharp, albeit lower framerates.

Can check if the windows u run is using legacy or uefi boot?

Saw someone post on Newegg that black screen problem for him is due to running on legacy.

They said the same thing when people moved from SSAA to MSAA... ;)

got my sapphire 5700xt nitro+ special edition at $666 during 6/6 sale

installed latest adrenalin drivers, running on 1440p 144hz on displayport

undervolt to 1070mV, no problems so far

temps average 60-70C (about 70% fan speed) on gaming, on superposition benchmark max around 75C

games played: quantum break, deus ex mankind divided, apex legends, mafia 3 definitive edition

I am not a big fan of DLSS. I feel it is an overhyped feature that Nvidia is trying to sell with supposedly AI enhanced upscaling. While AMD does not have any Tensor or AI cores in their GPU, they managed to do an upscale, couple it with the sharpening to produce better image quality than Nvidia's first gen DLSS. While AMD's method may not be as efficient as Nvidia's, it avoids the complication of having the game developers to optimize their games for DLSS, or vice versa.

Good to know the stability issues are gone. I feel this is where AMD needs to buck up because both hardware and software needs to work well in order to attract people to their hardware. With more $$$ in their coffer, they really should invest more budget and resources to improving their drivers and firmware.

By the way, does FreeSync work with Display Port? My impression is that it works only on HDMI, while G-Sync only works on DP.

I feel this "fine wine" remark by Raja back then holds true. For people looking to buy a graphic card and use them for a long time, AMD's GPU tend to be better.

Some review sites have shown that AMD actually improve performance of older cards. This is due to, AMD tend to backport some new features to their older cards, which is something that Nvidia rarely do (this could be due to Nvidia introducing new proprietary features to their latest GPU). To add on to this point, Nvidia rarely optimize drivers for their last gen or older cards. I feel they only limit their driver optimization on older cards to just making them stable. Eventually, this leads to older Nvidia GPU lagging behind AMD who still looks after their existing customers.

These are my opinions based on my own observations. Like AMD back porting some features to older cards, I think those information you can find online. On the contrary, I don't hear anything more about their older cards from Nvidia, the moment they released the Turing. With the release of the 3xxx series, I am not surprise the 2xxx series will also go down the same route as any of their last gen GPU.
