i mean that what the advantage using glossy or not
since i think its only for look and feel only

btw why not so many people using sager?? is it new in singapore?

Yep. The glossy screen is only for the look and feel. I think the matte screens, which is actually more fingerprint-proof, wasn't appealing to hardcore gamers that demanded/still demands the best for their graphic cards. :s22:

To put it simply, the glossy screen is more colourful/brighter but the matte screen is less so. On the other hand, the glossy one will make fingerprints more obvious, but the matte one is fingerprint-proof, if I am not mistaken. :)

Not many people are using Sagers because before Cubehub, PCDreams or MucroAsia (Zepto) started selling them, the whole brand range could only be imported (like my Sager NP9262). It's more of an exclusive brand as Sager Notebook, the owner and designer of the Sagers don't really advertise their products publicly, save for gaming magazines. Check out the ads in magazines like the PC Gamer Magazine:

But sooner or later either companies (Cubehub/PCDreams/MucroAsia) might eventually push for public ads to boost revenue, then we'll hear no end to "Sager this" and "Sager that". :s13:

Haha I guess so. Doesn't that give you a warm, pleasant feeling in your tummy? :s13:

And the looks people give you, trying to figure out what brand it belongs to (Even though it is so obviously stated st the front). Someone even declared to me that it was a Dell. The nerve. :D

Yes. You're right. But the Sagers are gaming notebooks, so they are designed to be plugged in. The batteries seem to be added as an after thought. =:p

Anyways, depending on your battery settings, the life is about 1hr - 1.5hrs. Without gaming. :)

aint talk bout battery if going to desktop replacements ... with only 260M and P8700.. expect it would be like around 1 hour...

also these monsters are power outlet kings....they give you much power , they suck much from your electricity bills...but luckily aint as much as desktops....

With gaming, especially with high-end games, expect 15-30mins max before the notebook starts beeping.

Powering high-end components need lots of juice, that's why low-end to mid-range notebooks stick to Penryn cores, etc, as the target audience can easily relocate their laptops anywhere and everywhere, so they will wish to be able to surf and watch vids at anytime. However, the Sagers are heavier and the target audience are the kinds who don't usually move about, staying in one spot; in essence, gaming for hours means you sit and stay for hours. Who would be fragging on a vehicle with bobblehead suspension? :p

Heheh, quite old news though, this was announced in May. :spin:
But still, it's good to spread the word! :s12:

However:

I think the new Sager is catered for the funky, show-offy people because the Sager logo looks pretty cool. Does it glow? [EDIT: Oops, the sheer amount of incredible components have blinded my eyes. Re-read and yes, it glows! Furthermore, the colour can be customized! Take that, Alienware! :alien:]

I think I like it (logo) more than the formal NP9280, but still, the NP9850's overall build look is much too plastic for me. :s13:

What do you guys think? :spin:

I think it is totally COOL! I got the best price here...

lol, promobot?

anyway, how do you guys find the heat of the sager?
esp those with the single fan design? (not sure if all are like that)

Sagers are usually hot, in the internal component section. However, the heatsinks are the highlight of Sagers, which conducts the heat away quickly, so the palmrests are usually a-ok to have your hands on it for extended periods of time. :D

However, do prop up the sagers because I feel the airspace below them are inadequate. For my NP9262, once I forgot to shut it off and let it run idle for 2/++ hrs while I was away, the internal temps shot up to 80C/+ average. Thank goodness never reach 90C.

So now I learned from my mistakes and prop mine up using 2 notebook cooling pads. :)

EDIT: Oh, for my NP9262, the internal temps are usually about 50C, single monitor configuration. When I plug in my Cintiq, however, the temperatures shoot up by 5C to average of 55C. Take note that these temperatures are with my ceiling fan at minimum speed and having two notebook cooling pads underneath. :)

I find my NP8662's temps to be normal for SG's weather, hovering around the mid 50s on load. The HDD is the hottest thing on it, reaching a peak of 62C. I think such temps are normal even good IMHO.

As for battery life, on Silent Mode, I used it to play anime (mkv) via HDMI to my 47" LCD. When it hit 20% battery, the laptop was used for more than 1.5 hrs.

Glossy panels make the display look richer. It has the effect of a glass panel. The downside is that it's reflective so u see reflections if u look at it from an angle. But looking directly at it, u don't see reflections.

EDIT: 100th post in the Sager/Clevo thread :)
