I now have my Beam. I got it as a Christmas gift and I have now had it for about 3 weeks.
My impressions so far:
Pros:
I was glad to find out that I had gotten my Beam with the latest JI1-firmware.
The projector is indeed very impressive, and it seems that Samsung was not exaggerating when they claimed 50 inches projection. In a dark environment with a white wall, it seems it could go up to a 100 inches ( I have not measured it yet).
Cons:
The construction seamed to be very sturdy and nice at first, but I have experienced that the glass seems to get a bit lose at times. I don't know why - the glue getting lose when the device is getting warmer?
The focus weal keeps "rolling" out of focus by it self right after I have adjusted it correctly. It is VERY annoying. I might try to put something next to the wheel to make it stick to how I have set it.
The battery runs out surprisingly fast. But my brother's HTC Desire HD is much worse.
I have not rooted my Beam yet, since I fear damaging my device. I don't want to have to send it all the way to Singapore in case something would go wrong. What are the risks if I root my Beam? Could I brick my phone?
What if something would go wrong? Could I easily just restore the phone to how it was new by some internal firmware back-up?
how much can i sell my beam for? woot.. i started with this thread and now feel like selling liaoz.. lmaoz.
anyone getting lots of white spots on their projection?
nope for me.where is the white spot at?
It's all over the image especially if it's dark, my 1st suspicion is dust on the inside since i can't wipe it off. Jus wanted to check if anyone else face this problem

does any of you get the white spot problem fixed/repaired?
it seem that mine started to get 2 tiny white dot already
I've sent it for servicing this week. might be getting it back by Friday. delayed due to CNY. In the mean time.. not enjoying returning back to my Nokia 5800
Still have not received my beam back. Samsung is gonna send it to my house on Monday.
according to the girl the sub-motherboard was replaced.
btw to those that face the white spots problem, did u do anything significant juz before the problem started.I first noticed the spots during a bbq at east coast. my beam was used as a torch light for the grill
received my beam today and the projector's back to normal.. hopefully it doesn't happen again..

I have been using my Beam's projector as the main way I consume media. I got a great set up in the bedroom with Nav man holder to hold the phone, white screen, light blocking windows and plug in speakers. Hours and hours a day of projection for the last 5 months and no white dots. I am really testing the bulb in this thing. However I have another problem. Because I use the projector a lot, I often change battery with a spare that I carry in my wallet. Now because I change the battery a lot, the battery cover has developed a crack and its getting bigger. I am trying to find where I can get a battery cover. I have found nothing on the Net. Any ideas?
