it seem A54 and A34 the screen brightness is good for elderly. for phone less then 550. oppo, vivo, realme, oneplus all cannot make it

me looking at the screen that is bright and sharp for elderly. so i guess A34 is 6.6 is better choice

my guess is Super AMOLED, 120Hz, 1000 nits (HBM) while the rest is lcd


please take note, i am talking about the brightness only

Ok... so let me get this straight...

First they have A52 and A52s and A72

Then they nerf the A53 with a worse CPU so now you have to pay more for A73 which is essentially an A52s with a more atas chassis

Then now they sell the A54 at almost the same price as A73

What. The. Fug kind of inflation are we looking at here

No wonder Gordon Moore died.

Many real life comparisons between A52S vs A54 on youtube..

Performance wise seems on-par if not 778G still have a slight edge over it..

Only few noticeable difference is perhaps just the brightness of screen, camera, a-tad better battery life and longer firmware support

But you can easily buy 2 used decent A52S for a brand new A54 now..

How does it compare with the A73? A34 vs A73.

not worth it cause i reason i looking at it is 2 reason, i need to setup for elderly, so battery charge limit to 85% mean can use until 3 or 4yr.

2nd reason is the display is look very bright and clear, which is good for elderly with poor vision

without the 2 reason, i might as well get Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 4G (AMOLED, Snapdragon 685)


as such i am thinking of getting A34 at $460. 6.6inch, same bright screen and battery charge limit to 85%.

I see. I'm planning to get one for my grandma as well but still debating between A34 and A73 as A73 has already price dropped significantly close to A34 pricing and also has a larger display. I wonder how much brighter it is than the A73. Not sure if it's even worth it or just settle any Redmis/Poco/Realmes will do.

you go see yourself, for me i can see the different. very noticeably A34/A54 screen is brighter

elderly care about how the brightness and how large the text/video is, in short poor vision so the screen is improtant. i dont think they care what cpu/gpu unless the elderly is a gamer

True that. But an efficient soc can make it age better, especially for old folks who tend to use it for a very long time probably till the phone dies. And yes, will share once I get hands-on.

I went to check out the demo sets yesterday evening after work. And yes, I do agree that the display on both the A34 and A54 seems slightly brighter. Most probably due to the new vision booster tech that is found on the S series has now trickled down to the A series which is a good move.

However, the bezels on this new series seem like a big downgrade compared to last year's phones. It's so much thicker than last year's A33, A53, and even the A73. Not to mention, the U-shaped notch on the A34 may be quite intrusive for some when streaming content. I guess most old folks are not as nitpicky/OCD as us tech enthusiasts but at this price point, it leaves much to be desired.

I'm still contemplating if I want to wait for the price to depreciate a few months later or just pick up a new A73 or used S21+ instead which is much cheaper now should I stick to Samsung. For budget - mid-tier phones 1UI is much better supported and unrivaled for the long term compared to other brands. Perhaps I may wait for XM12P which has similar specs to the A34 to release locally and compare the difference. Even the Poco X5 isn't too bad either when compared to A34 at a lower price point.
