Speaking of reliability, what do Samsung mean when they say '10,000 mating cycles'?

It's listed under their durability specs.

1 mating cycle means 1 push in and 1 pull out of memory card slot lor. All connectors have mating cycle ratings(eg.USB is at 1500).

AT least they admitted... And the fact it died mainly in Samsung devices... Sometimes conspiracy theories are nice to believe
Probably the Samsung device not adhering to the sd specs strictly and giving it slightly more voltage then required. Then Sandisk cards not durable enough to withstand. I blame both sides. :s13:

Just wait for a recall. Now is made in Korea, BUT soon, china as their china plant ramps up capacity.

I am happy to say my mobile devices (sans laptop) is not made by these PRC FT.

Charger made in India, pouch hand-made in france, accessories also. I dont mind paying for non-prc

hand-made by prc in france hehe

It's just a useless marketing gimmick, how many microsd cards sold today are going to sit the rest of its life out comfortably in a phone slot? Practically all.

Even if you use it in rugged outdoor gear, the memory card slot is never exposed to any elements.

Microsd memory card are not only used in mobile phone. Samsung have a number of compact cameras and mirrorless cameras with microsd memory card slot. In future other camera manufacturers may also use microsd memory slot to save internal space. Many car dash board survelliance cameras are using microsd too. Most user of these devices will take out the microsd card to transfer out data exposing the memory card to the elements

Right, using microSD card for Samsung Galaxy Zoom (camera / smartphone) now. Have to take out card to transfer images after every "shooting session" and clear memory on card.

Like each transfer getting slower leh, and kana twice can not detect card  almost heart attack :s13:
