actually all microsd cards are similar no matter Samsung / Kingston / Sandisk unless you going for high speed memory card thus you need to bother about their read/write speed or else most impt factor to consider is the price
True to some extent. But must see who the manufacturer. So far Samsung is number 1 in nand manufacturing

2 factor? Price and reliability? Iam more trusting towards Sandisk and Samsung. Seem they are more reliable..

maybe sandisk use Samsung Nand chip too?

Sandisk partner with Toshiba in producing NAND chips, they are the world number 2 largest maker of NAND chips. Not way sandisk will be using Samsung NAND chips.

Sandisk admitted that they produced a batch of defective 32GB and 64GB memory cards last year. :o

My Sandisk card was way before that before I switched to Samsung. Had a friend who got a Sandisk last year and the card is still alive. Maybe hes lucky to get a working card. :s13:

Well, I had more confidence with Samsung memory card. Lets see if there will be any problem with these new EVO and PRO. :s22:

But for other manufacturers apart from Samsung?

Sandisk also classified their Normal, Ultra and Extreme, Extreme Plus series according to colour codes.

But Samsung's identification is way easier as they use prominent and contrasting colours. I had a few sandisks for my camera and have to admit that I still have to based on their printed wordings for identification instead of using the colours. And worse still, there is no difference in colours between their extreme and extreme plus series.

Just to check does other brand offer water proof temp reisistance... xray etx etc ?

I had a sandisk 16gb ultra.
The problem is the SD fail in such a way that the content can be read but it cannot be written.
As it contains photos I tried to "clear" or "corrupt" the content before I go RMA it

I tried
1) Using a rare earth magnet from HDD
2) Put it in a dish with 3-5mm of water and placed the micro SD in the water before running it in the microwave for 1min few times.
(purpose of the water is to lower the temperature so that the plastic onthe SD would not melt)

The content would not be corrupted

I think all memory cards can withstand water, not just Samsung.

Cannot. I have one OEM card by Toshiba (OEM - made by toshiba but put branding for other company as gifts or prizes etc) and it died after dropping into a cup of plain water

Just wait for a recall. Now is made in Korea, BUT soon, china as their china plant ramps up capacity.

I am happy to say my mobile devices (sans laptop) is not made by these PRC FT.

Charger made in India, pouch hand-made in france, accessories also. I dont mind paying for non-prc
