What is the amount you are planning to charge n how many swipes are you planning ?

Maybe it's better for you to just borrow a phone, link your credit card, swipe then deactivate the card from your friends phone.

BTW citi has a limit of $3k for each MST transactions.

That's possible, but I'm trying to lower the cost as much as I can since I'm not really using the phone as a phone but just for
miles.

As for 2nd hand phone, I'm buying from an individual, so not sure how to get a shop to test for me :(

In relation to the discussions on which terminal can accept Samsung MST, can those with experience in this area let me know whether this type of terminal can work with Samsung MST? I have an upcoming big purchase at this vendor who is clueless about Samsung Pay and this forms the major reason why I'm considering buying a phone in the first place. It would be a sad day if this terminal does not work.

Strangely, the terminal looks exactly like the one I saw at the Samsung Shop in Paragon which has a test demo area for their Samsung pay function but alas, it was "spoilt". I'm not sure if this means that the vendor I'm going to use at would also be Samsung MST feasible since its the exact same model - even the "Ascan" sticker is the same.

The total amount to be charged is around $10,000 and $8,000 foreign (not sure if Samsung pay will work overseas) but it's spread over a number of occasions (ie not all swipe one shot). In about 1 months time, there will be another big follow up purchase of around $5k local and 5k foreign, again spread over a 2 week period. Repeat again one more time 2 months from now.

Borrowing a friend's phone could be imposing a little much on him/her.

I don't think I've tried on this type of terminal. However, only time the transaction cannot go through are the old type ones, some can, some cannot. Some cannot even put the number in, some just says denied or do not honor.

As much as I've tried to use Samsung Pay in the start, I'm now getting lazy. Only will insist on trying if the amount is greater than like $100, otherwise, just pay with normal credit card (if no paywave) and get over with it. That said, I was able to use Samsung Pay to charge >$100 over paywave at Toysrus at Vivo.

true. sometimes you have to ask yourself: killing 4xbrain-cells for getting 4xmile, is the deal you shall go for? :s13:

SamsungPay doesn't really work overseas. I've tried in AU and JP. The transaction goes thru but am still fighting with Citibank on getting the points.

Based on what you've described below, I would suggest you borrow a friend's phone for local transactions.

For overseas transactions, UOB visa signature also gives 4 miles but limit is $2000 per billing cycle.

Finally tried MST at a spa. That million dollar look when the counter staff found out the samsung pay works on the terminal!

For my transaction, I needed to key in the ccv code before the transaction is completed. Did not know there is a need to key this in. Is this what everyone experienced?

Given this experience that Samsung Pay doesn't really work overseas, did you use it with MST function?

Also, does it make a difference whether the phone itself is a local set or an export set?

whats the basis for citibank not granting the points for the overseas spending?

No, I used the paywave function.

Not sure as I'm only looking at the online Points statement.

Just look at your Samsung Pay app, it will show the transaction there.

When you paid using Paywave, you're technically using Samsung Pay to tap the Paywave terminal. It's no different then hovering your phone over terminals without paywave function. You're still using Samsung Pay as the payment method.

You can also go online and look at the transaction, or as I mentioned, the app.

Only problem is the samsung app only show recent transaction. Is there another way to retrieve the full list?

Hmm, looking back at my online back statement. Previous ones all have the virtual card number there, except for past few days transactions.

Before I hit the 120k limit, it took no more than 3 business days.

After I hit the 120k limit, my SPAY transactions take 4-5 business days to post.

Hmm, just went to NUH for my wife's check up. They have a new machine for paywave transactions, and SPay MST works on that newer machine. Charged $700+ there.

Editted: NUH maternity clinic (can't remember what is it called, but Kent ridge wing 3rd floor). I do remember the medical centre pharmacy also have the same machine for paywave (thus in theory, should work for MST too).
