Can someone advise if you have succeeded in making a big purchase using Samsung Pay with Citi ?

I tried to do this on a single swipe of $2,000 at Best Denki and it got rejected.

My biggest swipe using Citibank card is $200+. Same thing, $2k+ amounts got rejected, but I believe is due to the merchant. I've even gotten the same error (at a different merchant) for $40+.

I seriously love the Citibank promo. I just came back from Seoul and have been using Samsung pay as much as I could and it works out great! Now I earn 4 miles per dollar for my overseas purchases as well! :)

Has anyone ever tried to use Samsung Pay at Robinsons for a large purchase ?

The cashier told me that the credit card terminal is linked to their POS system so need to insert the physical card first before they can "transfer" the amount from POS to the card terminal.

Any step by step procedure which I can use to teach them how to use their card terminal ?

Thanks.

Some like Singpost, need to swipe card on their POS terminal to record the transaction or to match the transaction for accounting purposes, and the systems not linked up one. In the end, had to do the MST multiple times without actual transaction for the person to copy down the virtual card number to be input manually and their terminal on display the card number for like 2s each time. I only know of the problem after the transaction went through, if not, I would not have troubled the cashier for such small amount. The terminals I've tried at that point so far only displayed the card number for like a very long time. I've also tried using the MST against their PC magnetic strip reader, which does not work.

As of now, I also see some terminals not displaying the card number at all, just ask for amount straight.

For your case, ask what happens if a foreigner comes to purchase something with a card without a chip (everything has to be done by swiping). If they have to insert card number into their system, then ask if they can do like above, insert the number into their system manually, which is what the swiping action automates. Either you do the above or find someway to record down your own virtual card number (which the kind Singapore Post lady has given to me).

I've also encountered this cashier saying their management has not approved the decision to use Samsung Pay and she is unsure if it is a scam or not, so either I don't use Samsung Pay or wait for manager to arrive (1 hour later). As usual, cashier usually have more responsibilities, like if the till has less money than recorded, either physically or electronically, the cashier would have to foot the difference. They are probably not earning much, if they are not willing to take the "risk", I wouldn't force them.

Thanks. I'm trying to swipe a $2k transaction at Ronbinsons and I'll be damn if I don't get my 4 miles/$ from Citi.

any 1 receive week 3 power bank :p

I'm supposed to get it, but have not received it yet.

Do report back. Though I do not believe that there is any limits to the transactions, if it fails, you can ask them to try to charge in a few smaller amounts. So far, biggest successful charge I have is like $380+. I should have tried smaller amounts for my failed $2k+ transactions. But as per my previous post, I did encountered the same error at a different merchant, for $40+.
