SATA Cable Experiment - Does Quality Affect SSD Performance

This is a area of feeling vs how much to spend. Some only feel good if certain amount of money is spent.

Ever went to those high end audio shop with friend when he commented the sound is very good. I asked if he understand what the singer is singing, he does not know! All he look for is price, how thick is the cable, gold plated, heavy metal etc.

Yeah, audio quality is hard to quantify so it’s tempting to just keep on spending money to chase that supposed imaginary improvement.

PC DIY does not have to deal with this bs. If a manufacturer claims a special SATA cable can improve performance, without the benchmark to back the claim no one is going to fall for it.

But with hifi, it’s a jungle out there. Got one time I went to test speakers and I feedback the sound was a bit bright then the salesperson offered to change the DAC USB cable to one that is ‘mellower’. Change already still sounded identical to my ears lol.

Sometime is a matter of one feel good as the item he paid for is kind of so call high end by the price tag. When you put the cables under equipment to test. It probably show no different especially when we are talking about the frequency range that a human can hear. Rest is some tunning biased to individuals preference. At the point you feel good, that's is where you started to pay for it.

measurements and specs mean nothing in hifi.................speakers are the best examples............

you have manufacturers making great speakers with super stiff or flexible cabinets...................with super high-tech or low-tech materials for the drivers..........the only consistent thing is cross-over must be good

and then i've heard expensive amp using high quality parts but the sound was terrible............

The so call high quality part is some components that you don't see in todays world. Eg. Sone capacitor is actually those old day design type. Colorful, look very high end as you don't see them in those sim lim components shop etc. In fact they are no different from those modern design, ugly looking, so small that you cannot ever hand solder them.

Did you open up the amplifier and replace the fuse inside or the fuse at plug ?
Is your amplifier linked to computer ? If linked to computer, it's better to upgrade that as well.
A advise for you is to plug everything directly to wall and avoid multi trail sockets, if wall not enough socket, get one of this

Probably need to upgrade power station too. Some invested with expensive Analog DC power power supply. All audio equipment need to has pure stable DC to power then for the so call zero noise interference. The audio system is not to connect to any PC, WiFi as those are source of noise and interference.

When I started building my desktop hi-fi setup earlier this year, I jumped into the deep end by going to audition the expensive setups immediately just to hear what were possible if budget was not a limiting factor. I even went to listen to the $380K Steinway Model D speakers. Then I took note of what kind of sound I liked and figured out what cheaper components I would need to get to arrive at that sound within my reasonable budget. Ok lar, I think my current setup is more or less equal in quality to those expensive Adelphi setups so if I upgrade it will be just for the feel good factor.

Last time i read in what hifi magazine, some listener drink beer/wine or smoke tobacco while listening to their hifi.
It make difference to their listening experience. For me, i eat properly and also consume tobacco regularly
for the difference.
