This means you go by feeling. If someone hide behind the system and make you do the same test. You will not be able to find the different. Ferrite core suppress noise above Radio Frequency range.

like i said.............you can hear it for sure............it's just like some speakers have supertweeters that go to 40-50Khz................but they sound less airy or detailed than speakers without supertweeters (up to 22khz only)..............audio is weird - measurements and specs don't matter.............

Nah, true hardcore audiophiles don't use PC to stream. They use expensive streamers like those by Aurender and Lumin.

Don't have audiophile PSU, but plenty of audiophile linear power supply and main conditioner. Got one local brand Plixir makes and sells locally.

Me, I am contented streaming with Tidal and Roon on my PC. I see no need to invest in things like streamers, main conditioner, or those fancy silver speaker cables or super thick power cables. If upgrade, priority will be speakers or subwoofer first.

i have an audiophile powerline filter that i no longer use.................wonder if it'll make a difference for pc...........??

can point to some of these sexperts? youtube channel?

it was some online forum dedicated on pc audio...............i find it weird why they don't use a dedicated audiophile streamer and all that...............their pc only used for music................then they have some software to minimize usage of the RAM and SSD for better sound.............

The ironic thing is Sony’s hifi stuff were really really good. I am using Sony’s last integrated amplifier TA-A1ES and I think no other amplifier below 10K comes close to it. Too bad Sony got out of hifi and only do head-fi now.

Yes, better measuring or more expensive do not necessarily mean better. Gear matching and room treatment more important.

Audiophile is expensive hobby and the rate of diminishing return is even worse than GPU. If I want to see tangible improvement from my current gear I have to spend 5 digits at least on each component.

I used to play around with fuses during the early days.

no lah.............fuses not for pc lah.................for amplifier lah...............

Did you open up the amplifier and replace the fuse inside or the fuse at plug ?
Is your amplifier linked to computer ? If linked to computer, it's better to upgrade that as well.
A advise for you is to plug everything directly to wall and avoid multi trail sockets, if wall not enough socket, get one of this

Seems natural that when grow older less time to play games so no incentive to build DIY PC, so change into hifi lor. A couple of local audiophiles I know in their 40s also started with DIY PC first before switching hobby to hifi.

Unlike DIY PC, there are a lot more snake oils in hifi coz lack of benchmark. Does that 2k silver speaker cable actually improve the sound? Or is it just confirmation bias? And also the price of the components, man. I see a lot of people here think 3080 so ex, then in hifi a 10k DAC is considered affordable lol.

There is a forum Audio Science Review that tries to test and measure hifi equipments and a lot members there practice reverse snobbery i.e thumbing their noses at people who spent a lot of money on hifi equipments without considering their measurements. Not surprisingly, the Chinese brands jump on this bandwagon and produce gears that measure very well, but in actual listening they might sound only okay.

measurements and specs mean nothing in hifi.................speakers are the best examples............

you have manufacturers making great speakers with super stiff or flexible cabinets...................with super high-tech or low-tech materials for the drivers..........the only consistent thing is cross-over must be good

and then i've heard expensive amp using high quality parts but the sound was terrible............

Suggest if you can, get the ear test and check how high the frequency your ear can response. Major clinics or hospital has these equipments.

This is a area of feeling vs how much to spend. Some only feel good if certain amount of money is spent.

Ever went to those high end audio shop with friend when he commented the sound is very good. I asked if he understand what the singer is singing, he does not know! All he look for is price, how thick is the cable, gold plated, heavy metal etc.
