Deterrent too low, only inconvenience with get around.

Barred from registering new mobile lines means pre existing mobile lines still can use or use mobile line registered under other people.

Restricted from banking service still can use cash, can get other people to transfer money into digital prepaid card like revolut.

No singpass still can do the old fashion way same as boomers.

There are probably many levels of restriction. Completely not being able to hold a bank account usually prevents one from being gainfully employed in all but the lowest tier jobs. That is usually reserved only for people on a US sanction list. My guess is that they will have no access to specific facilities - like a forced limit of $50 a day on paynow or electronic transfers, with no provision for increasing that limit. They'd probably still be able to hold a credit card.

I'm not against the restrictions per se. Like I said, if they are still able to withdraw some cash from their account with permission from the authorities, then I see no issue with it. My train of thought was that they might have children or dependents who need the money from the account.

So the question is. Does the restriction mean totally cannot touch the bank account or can use but get permission from the authorities each time? If it is the latter, I have no issue with it.

If I see correctly, they are restricted from banking services and not banned from it so probably some leeway is there within reason

Scam mules use is outlived when they are unable to transfer the scam money to overseas.

Even if they offer to carry the cash bulk, they will be caught easily.

Very likely that these mules will belong to the group that has little use for SINGPASS as well.

This a good challenge for the authorities to lengthen harsher restrictions for mules
