Huh? The pupils suspended on Jul 28, but Aug 7 the girl got a bruise from pupil C? How that happen? Pupil C whack her outside school? Or the school only suspend 1-2 days that kind for the sake of suspending?Timeline of Events (as stated by MOE)
- End-April
- Girl reported Pupil A for using an offensive slur on her and another classmate.
- Girl had also used an offensive slur on Pupil A.
- Form teacher asked both to apologise to each other for using bad language.
- Mid-July
- Girl asked form teacher to change her seat.
- Teacher decided to monitor first, as girl was still talking and laughing with Pupils A and B.
- July 25
- Girl asked again for seat change, citing difficulty focusing due to Pupils A and B’s chatter.
- Reported that Pupils A and B used inappropriate language on her.
- Reported that Pupil C touched her face without consent.
- Girl admitted she had also used inappropriate language.
- All three told to apologise and mend their friendship.
- Later that day, teacher told girl he had informed her parent and seat would be changed the following Monday. Teacher would also look into feedback about Pupil C.
- July 26
- Girl’s mother reported receiving prank calls and death threats.
- July 28
- School pulled out the three boys (Pupils A, B, C).
- Findings:
- Pupil A got the girl’s number from his parent.
- Trio made prank calls to girl’s parent.
- Pupil C sent threatening audio messages.
- School reprimanded all three, informed parents, and suspended them.
- Vice-principal met girl’s parents:
- Actions taken included seat change, suspension, and future bag checks.
- Plans for peers to accompany girl in school were also shared.
- School assured parents disciplinary actions (including caning) may follow police investigations.
- July 30
- Girl reported a classmate sprayed water on her.
- Investigation showed:
- Girl had used hurtful words (including a racial slur) and told others not to befriend that classmate.
- Classmate retaliated by spraying water.
- Both were counselled.
- Classmate’s parent informed.
- School planned to inform girl’s parents in a face-to-face meeting.
- July 31
- Safety plan sent to girl’s parents by email.
- Aug 7
- School informed of bruise on girl.
- Found that Pupil C had swung his bag into her during dismissal.
- CCTV: teacher was managing another group, incident not witnessed.
- No pupils reported incident immediately.
- School engaged Pupil C’s parents.
- Aug 12
- Pupil C caned.
- Aug 14
- School arranged to meet girl’s parents on Aug 18 to update them on actions and support for her return.
- Aug 15 & 16
- Parent made allegations on social media
