Is it norm that after flash to bridge mode.
the following 2 mode on the modem no long available, even with direct connect to ethernet?
1. browser 192.168.1.254 - not accessible anymore?
2. telnet 192.168.1.254 - not accessible anymore?

Leewayz is correct.

You do not flash the ST536v6 to bridge mode, you set it to bridge mode.

If you want to revert back to Gateway, just hard reset your ST536v6.

The Residential CD will set your ST536v6 to bridge mode.

The word flash is incorrect.

Once in bridge mode, you'll not be able to "enter" your ST536v6.

Yes, I just compare it with AM300, which actually option to set to bridge mode.
But, this st536v6, use cd to set.
both use different methods to set.

Singtel's firmware do not allow for bridge mode.

If you buy a retail version, I'm sure you don't need the Residential CD to set bridge mode.

A more detailed method supplied by tidus792 in another thread

Method 1a (Modified)

1. On your router, Set PPPoE, Configure username and password.

2. Turn off Both modem and router.

3. Connect modem to router.

4. Turn on the modem and do a Hard reset the ST536v6 by pressing on the reset button till the power led turns red.

5. Turn on your router.

6. Surf the net

Most of the steps in 1a is quite redundant actually.

EDIT:

Just remembered

Method 3: CLI (not tested personally)
Method 4: Half-bridge (tested on 7.4.1.7)

This is normal. IF you wan to access the modem, u will have to either
1)Remove ur router and hook ur PC to modem direct
2) Hook a switch in between modem and router, hook PC to switch and access it without interrupting internet while accessing.
