My nearby challenger has it.
Went to molest it.

Overall as a phone the finishing is v high quality.
But the camera is really basic.
As a 主打相机 with 1 inch sensor phone, it's not enough

Positive
- the shutter button at the side is good.
- colours definitely Leica style.

Negative
- focus a bit slow and this is in good light. Think in low light sure hunt.
- no in sensor zoom. 2x and 5.8x pic quality quite bad
- there isnt much shooting options like eg, continuous shutter, paranormal , styles

I think if U want a similar standard phone, get the Xiaomi 14 ultra ba. That phone and camera system is way more polished.

It's a good start though.
Give it one or 2 more generation to fine tune the software. Have lossless 2x and 6x zoom. Use a bit of AI to improve longer distance shot
Give me a 3.5mm jack and sd card
Cut price to 1099.

Sure hoot.

Yea that's why I say the R9 pro is a camera with a phone, and not a phone with camera. Using it is like using a real camera, no fancy modes or styles. Sensor zoom is just cropping, so take a native optical zoom shot and crop in, the processing is very mature, no over sharpening or fuzziness which lends itself to cropping very well. The magnetic adapter ring is also good for attaching filters. Wished it had burst mode though.

Finally a Angmo review. Not a very positive one though and certainly 1300 pounds is way too expensive I can see where he coming from...

What a crap review especially the cameras. The cameras are a letdown because it cannot go past 20x zoom? Lol what a stupid review. Sure, everyone shoots at 20x all the time. He absolutely has no idea how to review cameras, he's just trying to sell stuff on his online store.

Well..if I want a camera, I'll get a camera.
I want a phone with good camera system
Not a camera with a phone.

Anyway, impressions is...not a bad product.
Let it mature
Give some fan fav like 3.5mm jack, SD card.
Attractive price and they have a winner.
If not when the other 1 inch camera from Xiaomi , vivo etc all about same price , who will buy this?

I kinda looking forward to the vivo ultra if it really have the 35mm lens.

Put 3 super good sensor at 16, 35 and 75mm and use 1.5 or 2 times crop to cover the full focal ranges from 16mm,24mm, 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 75,mm 125mm, 150mm

This R9 Pro is still one of the candidate for my replacement phone my only problem with it's is just the weaker processor. I will see how much the Xiaomi 15 Ultra and Oppo X8 Ultra Global cost. I don't think they are going to cost anything lesser than 1.6 or 1.7 K tbh. Also to me stock android is a plus not a minus.

A phone is always with us, so I do appreciate that R9 pro can be used like a main camera rather than a phone with a camera. I also have a Sony 1vi with 3.5mm jack and SD card, but compared to the R9 pro which supports the magnetic ring adapter which allows filters attachment, from a photography point of view, the R9 pro is a better camera for photography enthusiasts. Ditto for Xiaomi and vivo, Xiaomi can put filters but requires the bulky case. So ya, if for photography, the R9 pro is probably the best one currently.

He doesn't take too well to constructive criticism. Read the comments and he's pretty defensive.

Typical boomer lol.

Anyway I will wait, other then this stupid green line that's irritating my xm12su still useable

Nowadays I don't change phone every year or even every other year. I will prolly use until the last android version update or the phone have issues.

In no order of preference Current candidates for replacement.
Xiaomi 15 Ultra Global, Sharp R9 Pro, Oppo Find X8 Ultra Global.

Ya I thought what review he's gonna give since this phone is a camera centric phone. But actually he has no idea about cameras.
