After using the r8 pro a month, phone is quite ok but the camera output is not great despite the big sensor. The auto mode doesn't expose very nicely, the ai looks overdone and if you pull the brightness bar to select exposure it's either too bright or dark. Think the iphone 12 I had for work still gives best instant results and ironically my Xperia 10 v gives nicer exposure from the software but noisier due to the less capable hardware. Quite hit and miss. Sometimes the camera mode auto exit due to some error.

Can play mobile games like zenless without lagging lo.

Think Sony is still more polished on the software side but very overpriced.

Interesting leh, where the reviews?
Sharp’s marketing a bit cui. Till now hard to find local reviews. Why never send out review units? Anyway I realise for Wish 4 and Sense 8, the single piece body vibrates more when playing music loudly. This needs to be improved especially when Wish 4 is targeted at seniors who may be hard of hearing. The mono speaker also doesn’t sound good.

The target audience are children, seniors and those who want an entry-level phone that doesn’t need to be babied. It has a simple mode for seniors and a junior mode for children.

While shopping for a phone, I have noticed quite a few issues with Sharp’s approach and design. For instance, it doesn’t have a standard spec template for its phones like other brands. It provides selective information for each model, based on the selling point. It needs to learn from Oppo and Apple which allow easy comparison between models.

While the marketing materials and trailers look nice, ultimately they are just advertisements and rational buyers want objective real-life reviews.

I tired the sharp phones out at Challenger. My impression is the built quality of R8S pro and R9 seems plasticky and the vibration not great. Screen not bright enough. For the $800-$900 asking price, better to get OnePlus 12 or pixel 8 pro on current sale price.

I did but that’s beside the point. If Sharp wants to sell more phones in Singapore, it needs to send out units for reviews (review websites, Youtube, etc). Sharp also released the phones in Indonesia but the reviews are mainly on Youtube and too difficult to translate. The reviews in Taiwan are not that many either and tend to be quite forgiving of the camera quality of Wish 4. I don’t know if it is paid endorsement or phones are more expensive in Taiwan? I’m not looking for a super good camera at this price point but it is really noticeably worse than other phones in the same price range in terms of artefacts and color accuracy. The pros are that it is 5G, is launched with Android 14 with 2 more OS updates, the IP rating and the function to conserve the life of the battery.

When the sense 9 comes I might get one and review

Which A15? The 4g or 5g?

While the wish has an inferior screen and camera on paper, it does have water and dust resistance.

The 4g, using MediaTek G99 iirc
Samsung A15 has only 4GB RAM. Will be laggy. The build quality and battery life of Wish4 are quite good but I don’t like the fact that the screen vibrates when the volume is turned up. While the screen is not AMOLED, I think it will last longer than A15 because of that. The length of Wish4 is longer than the average phone, which can be an advantage when watching Youtube videos in landscape mode but some people may find it too big. Wish 4 supports Wifi 6 while A15 only supports Wifi 5.

the best thing about wish 4 is the e-sim support
Because of that, I think that’s why the SIM tray of Wish4 can only accommodate 1 physical SIM and 1 MicroSD. It is not like the other SIM trays which allow a choice of 2 physical SIMs or 1 physical SIM and 1 microSD card.
