Why not Oppo and Vivo, who can undercut the R9 pro and give a faster chip?

I prefer not to use non Chinese phone. I never owned an Iphone and never will. Sony is getting more and more expensive like Samsung. My favorite brands like LG and HTC were out. So remaining choices are Japanese phones and Google Pixels. I'm bias to Japanese products so Sharp will be my next consideration.

Saw a lazada review that says the phone Sense8 is "quirky" compared to other android phones. anyone feel this way too?

I still prefer under screen fingerprint reader over a side mounted fingerprint reader.
The UI is non intrusive & pretty decent... only bundled with My Aquos & basic Google apps if I remember correctly.
I usually start the day at 90% (7am) & end the day at 30%-45% (1130PM).
The main camera AF can be slow at times (especially under poor lighting).
Sometimes you can feel the slow UFS 2.1 or 2.2 storage on the Sense 8.

Btw I already have a few scratches after the pre-applied screen protector came off... so a screen protector seems to be a must for Aquos series.

These seem to be potential issues on Sharp phone. I am curious about Sharp Aquos Sense9.

I really don't wnat to pay so much for Samsung phones only to run into green line issues 1 to 2 years later... arrrrgh....

Been using Aquos Sense 8 as my work phone.
What I like:
1) light weight, pocket friendly, so comfortable to hold.
2) more than adequate for my type of usage - WhatsApp, browsing, Gmail, Facebook
3) battery can last me two days based on my moderate usage
4) it is made in Japan (according to the box label)
5) screen is bright, responsive, and the screen is flat
6) I like the ringtones - it's refreshingly different from the common Apple and Samsung tones that we hear day to day.
7) camera quality is acceptable for me (in my photo gallery are many photos of what I eat).

Other matters (I'm fine with them but thought I'd share):
1) charging to 90% is slow.
2) no success in finding compatible cases and screen protectors, though online retailers should carry those.
3) the security updates aren't so frequent (now still at Aug 2024 version)

I am tempted to try out the Sense 9. It is even shorter (height wise) but slightly thicker. Maybe I will take the plunge soon. Just glad that Sharp has come in. Good for us to have diverse choices when it comes to choosing phones. Wish that HTC (HTC Desire, One M9, 10 - gorgeous phones), Asus Zenfone, HMD, Motorola would return, that would be great and nostalgic. Wishful thinking but we never know.

Runs a snapdragon.

Only bad thing is software support a bit short at 1 cycle.

Hope the 2025 version give a 3x optical zoom and 3 to 4 years of security and android update and it will be a very very decent mid range phone.

I know of an US expat acquaintance who uses a cheap Moto G bought from USA and it does have volte in Singapore
