Review of ryzen 4650, gigabyte a520 itx motherboard inside inwin Chopin case. Cpu got thermal throttle? Not able to reach the specs frequency. 4750g has so much better performance than 4650g.

this is a build I've been quite tempted to build and sell, but no money or time... :( I'd wager the throttling was due to the a520 board though, most of them don't have proper vrm cooling, and should be fine if switched out to a b450 or b550 board. I've actually detailed a cost breakdown here: https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...read-6079836-post129389040.html#post129389040

if u want to go smaller, apparently asrock deskmini a300 with beta bios can also boot the new 4000 series apus, similar cost analysis here: https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/...read-6079836-post129409244.html#post129409244

If you are considering a 4700/4750, my recommendation is to avoid the Deskmini. I have not tested the Deskmini, but considering I've tried InWin Chopin with a 3400G previously, I feel the PSU and cooling is barely sufficient. In fact I think it is insufficient. The PSU is burning hot, and under some games, it can hit high 70 degs. Running 3D Mark actually caused it to freeze and restart when the physics test starts. So imagine a smaller Deskmini and lower wattage PSU, its going to be more limiting. 7nm will drive power consumption down, but this being an 8 core processor with very highly clocked GPU is unlikely to see a drop in power requirements.

4000 Pro APU are supposed to be for SI and OEM but no "reputable" ones are selling them?

I think it's the trade off between price, performance and portability. Just gotta compromise on some aspect of it.

I was looking at the desk mini sort of mini cases but the weak psu and stock-only HSF (aka noisy) ruled it out for me. Would love the small form factor but not at such an expense of high noise and heat.

Can wait and see if Aftershock will bring them in along with the X300 as their Vision Mini series.
Yea man. They discontinue their vision. Was hopping to get some clearance sales for 3400g.

I'm going to make an intelligent guess, this is because X300 is going to be launched next month

According to European websites, X300 will be launched on Week 42 which is Oct 12th

I am going to bet consumer desktop Ryzen 4000 APU will be announced together on AMD Oct 8th event

As for cheap 3400g, you probably can wait for Black Friday sale and buy it from Amazon SG

Pls share waiting time before they deliver. Af is rather famous for postponing on their ready to ship orders.
