regarding win8 will mess up the booting sequence, tink i encountered that with the beta release few months back....after uninstall win8 it take some recovery n repair to put win7 back to booting normally

If got liao then U can actually dun care about the download.
maybe restart your pc and restart the windows 8 upgrade assistant and see if it works or not.

if not then U can ask your friend to burn it for U into DVD and branja him kopi or something
