There has been 1 playboy shop located at ground floor for years. did the amount of such shops increased and did you find anytihing you like ?

TBH some may not know since I been partonizing Sim Lim Square these few years.
The main key players are Bizgram, Dynacore which has online stores on Lazada, Shopee and
Amazon.

Other shops have became small time player Fuwell is one of them so it's sad to see
they shrink to half the size. PCthemes I won't say small time also another reputable shop
but their online presence is none.

The good thing about Sim Lim Square is you can walk walk see and compare prices.
Example some shop may have graphic card at offer price or if anyone was looking for
a cheap RTX 3070.

Some shop sell cheap while some sell expensive.

SLS holds a lot of memories for me. Still remember those pirated CDs frenzy days.
It is the GO TO PLACE during weekends.
Yah, it is a bit sad seeing that it had become more desolute and sleazy KTVs popping up.
But I still pop by the place if Im around the area.

SLS holds a lot of memories for me. Still remember those pirated CDs frenzy days.
It is the GO TO PLACE during weekends.
Yah, it is a bit sad seeing that it had become more desolute and sleazy KTVs popping up.
But I still pop by the place if Im around the area.

The creative labs boom era was the best time to be at sls. It was literally packed like sardines every weekend. Man I missed those times.

Last time so crowded, every floor escalator there giving pricelist flyers...
Got my 1st DIY PC from Fuwell, although slightly pricey but reviews and reputation from them is better.

Used my salary and bought a 17" LCD Samsung monitor with foldable base that can mount on the wall and if I did not remember wrongly, there's a shop named Bell at level 5 escalator there and they gave me a smaller inches monitor wrongly.
Luckily I called and went back again and they honor the mistake and exchange for me.

Last time mobile device very lousy. I still remember I used psp to watch video, play game and etc but my phone screen still very lousy and cannot show a proper video.

Now alot of people just buy a android tablet and can do many thing liao.

The last time I went to pickup an order through Lazada, I can't recall if its level 5 or 6 that's become like a night club. I think that is the floor where I spotted Performance PC. Most of the shops are very small now. And ironically, when I looked at the price list, some key PC parts seem to be more expensive than what you can find online.

The market in SG is saturated. Most shops are low-skill and low-effort reselling businesses that lack innovation and are trying to make a quick buck.

It may look like competition will get us better prices, but not when their goods are all from a centralized distributor that controls the pricing, which is why price drops and discounts from the manufacturer don't apply to us in SG.

In the US, they have a microcenter that handles sales and supply chain so any discounts and price drops immediately reflect there. Over here, we have an extra unnecessary layer that prevents us from getting good prices and yet driving up the price.

Some products like laptops are literally going for a few hundred dollars premium here, which is actually insane because a laptop costing SGD 1.6k might look like midrange but ends up being an entry-level laptop that was excessively marked up from US$800.

AMD was reasonably affordable and Intel was very pricey that particular time, and if you could buy them, they were considered "rich" kids who built their own PCs.
My first PC was built with an AMD Athlon "Thunderbird" 1Ghz/800mhz processor that was affordable for me as teenager.........no RGB and LED back then just a basic PC built...........and the casing was only big factor of a nice PC build.........LOL........I purchased everything from a store named Costronic. However, a few years later, I discovered that they had stopped selling PCs and had instead switched to selling phone accessories, which they eventually closed permanently

Use a pencil to do a marking to over lock or something right? I can’t remember which AMD processor. My 1st Pc was a Compaq bought at Seiyu parco and AMD from SLS was my second.

I was from that era.

Remember the shops called ATF or something. Prominently located at the escalators for lvl 4 and 5? Sell all sorts of rubbish

To me, all those best shops were closed down long ago. SLS no longer worth a visit for us enthusiasts.

I remember a small shop at level 3 selling premium cases ( Lianli and Silverstone) and alot PC modding stuff, powerful fans, tubing and random things. The shop owner also offer case modding server.

I was a regular til the day he closed the shop, probably was the best shop in the history of SLS lolz.
