in your final year of exam, then yes your understanding is correct.

What do you mean when you said in the final year of exams? Just wondering, because i have only just completed my first year. But, my understanding is that even if your marks secured you a first class in year 3, if you fail more than a mod in year 1, your final degree class will drop by one. Is it?

The notes giveaway that I have posted about earlier is now closed. Please do not PM me anymore... All my notes are now taken. On a side note, those that have pm-ed me about multiple module notes... please note I wont be giving u all the notes that you have requested so as to be fair to others as well... The meet up for the giveaway will be in september... Thanks all for showing interest in my notes... :)

year 1 failed all modules. any suggestions on how to go about it now? what to do etc

hmm reflect on how come you failed all mods. failing all is alarming. if is bcus u totally nvr study, then it may be fine for u to repeat a yr. but if you've put in effort and yet failed all, then i think uol is not for you. esp w their raising standards. u may consider dropping out of uol.

Hi juniors!! Hope all of u hav done well for UOL exams! Anyway I m just asking out of curiosity, is James Kuan still teaching for UOL modules in sim?

nope he not teaching in sim alr. 2011/2012 was the last AY he taught.

Hello. Anybody can provide insights on FR?

Can i take Audit, Ebiz, Isorg, Esap and FR together?

usually ppl take audit and fr in the same year. i did that. FR is a unit which is possible to score if you are willing to put in effort.

I took both in my final year and I definitely find audit easier but you have to choose Ms Chu! Her notes are godlike!!

she train students to think and how to tackle exam qns. supporter of Ms Chu. :)

random rant: anyone scored A for msm for 2013? u can pm me if you're shy!

me!

Hi all

I am a yr 2 B&F student. Enrolled in 2012, did bridging for maths & econs. I've got the following results:

macro - fail
msm - fail
cf - pass
poa - pass

So now I'm left with

macro - retake
msm - retake
FI
IM
elective (thinking of VSA)
elective (???)

My qns are:
1) having failed two, my honors classification will drop one class right?

2) I wanna clear and get out of uol asap without going through an extra year. Read in this thread that under the old regulation, i can take 4 new mods + 2 resits.

This is technically my first year in uol but i am being refered to as a "second year" student cos of the bridging course.

Am i being considered under the old regulations or new regulation? Didnt read any mentions about the new regulations here. What is the new regulations?

3) I'm thinking of taking MSM as a private candidate. Taking only 5 mods in SIM but registering to take MSM exams also. Is this possible/advisable?

Considering its a "easy" mod. just screwed up the paper really badly this year.

4) any advise for the two electives?

All help and sharing of experiences are appreciated. Will be calling the school for their opinion also. Thank you all!

EDIT: I'm option to considering RMIT as an option also, if anyone is to recommend that path.

Is audit considered quali or quanti? Would be great if you can tell me abit about the subject :)

purely qualitative.

section A case studies with qn a & b. can combine topics.

section B essay. chance of similar qns appearing. can prepare.

possible to score in audit even if you are not v gd at writing bcus its abt content. but being able to write well helps in presenting/structuring your ans.

hi could someone advise if it's better to take management math or management science methods as an elective?
i am not looking for an easy way to score. i will put in the effort but i would like to know which mod is generally less tedious and maybe more stable (in terms of how examiners set the papers from year to year)
thanks!

Dear all,

I need some help/advise here. I am a part time business student and After leaving school for many years and I did not plan my selection of modules carefully

I took the following modules

Year 1
Econs,IBM,Socio and POA-All pass

Year 2
Maths 1,Stats 1,POM,FM and ESAP-I pass all except Maths 1

Year 3
as I am under the old regulations I start my lesson in July and took Ebiz. Question is I do not intend to take any further units which require Maths as perquisite I wanted take HRM, MA and ISORG. do I have to retake Maths? Doesn't seem to have any rationale as I am already in the final year and if I can still graduate with 2 modules failing. why will i still want to retake Maths.

I called SIM but think the line is so difficult to get through so appreciate some advise here.

Yes. You need to retake.

Only if you are doing your final year, which you are not! If you take 6 papers in your third and final year and you pass only 4 (i.e. failed 2) then you drop in 1 class of honours.

took both in 2013 exams.

comparing between the 2, it is definitely MM which is more tedious. format changed in 2013 exam. last time, out of 8 qns choose 5. now do ALL 8. but still 3 hrs paper :s22: i think it's like 99% cannot finish the paper. u dont have much time to think. read finish qn, attempt alr. you will be rushing to do the qns and time's up. still possible to do well BUT only if you really put in a lot of effort. if just chill relax, wont score high. requires practise and more practise. Dr Phil will upload a lot of past yr qns, coupled w his solutions. so you dont need to worry abt lacking of prac qns. he is approachable and willing to help. but you got to get used to his accent. it'll be alright after a few lessons.

MSM is easier and requires less effort compared to MM. there will be 1 theory qn which spans over 3 topics, other qns can be qualitative or quantitative. iirc, max of 3 theory based qns for the entire paper. if you are under Mr David Quek, you'll have access to his Mi Ji ie compilation of qns. there's abt 80 qns or so. possible to master the art of anwering qns. quantitative qns are like step-by-step way to do. do note there can be part b qn which ask abt theory when part a is abt cal. marks weightage on theory part b not that much though, ans quite standard.

Audit is quite easy to pass/score. MA is a tough module though. FR is quite manageable whereas I dont know about FM as I didn't take that module. :)

Guys I failed maths.
B&F
I am thinking of changing to A&F how do I go about changing?

My friend recommend me to take this route:

Next year:
Audit
Esap
F category mod (maybe IBM)
Maths 1
MA or FR

Year 3:
MSM (maths 1 pre-req)
ME (maths 1 pre-req)
FM
MA or FR

What do you guys think?

I am a part time student. Do you think it is possible to take total 6 modules in a year (4 new + 2 resits) if I were to convert to full time? Will it be very taxing?
