The latency in acidcrash's test to the GSL Sydney server seem to be about in line with the latency I see when tested* against a few Sydney servers (about 200-300ms) so probably nothing to see there.

*I'm on M1

The latency to singtel's SG server is not normal though, it went to narnia and back. :s13:

Seem like Simba doesn't buy transit or peer with Singtel in some way unlike Starhub and M1, which probably explains the 200ms ping time.

when the test was conducted at 2nd floor, the ping time was less than 5 ms.

see post 401.

Yes it's in ms. The upload speed is a mystery. The highest I get is around 750+Mbps. It fluctuates a lot.

Hmmm.... according to https://min.news/en/digital/b8c04bfc1ee2baa5b360c075b69a3af4.html , instead of auto setting ( sometime algorithms are far from perfect...) , maybe you can try set it manually to 5G channel that is least congested?

As well manual channel width setting on 160Mhz (high bandwidth, but only 2 channels to play) or even 80Mhz ( with 6 channels to play, if worth the effort on stability with lower bandwidth).

For example, I have a DFS channel 64(58) @ 80Mhz all by myself with no neighbor interference

I've only set it to 160 for the tests done yesterday. I'll try play around with the 80 later.

Nice.. Quite thoughtful of them to actually give a purple color LAN cable to match their brand color.

why need such high speed on handphone? besides speedtest app, which apps will use such high speed?

but it is nice to show the rest your handphone can achieve such speed.

I think the main purpose is to test Simba's speed rather than the handphone speed because he does not have 2.5Gbps capable devices yet.

yes, but wifi will become bottleneck in this case.

another question: why subscribe to 2.5g, but dont have device with 2.5g ?

Is Simba ONT heat dissipation that bad? why need to put a fan below it?

Because it is the cheapest plan out there.

The bottleneck might clear if his router can do at least Wifi 6E and Xiaomi updates the firmware to allow his phone to access 6Ghz. But then, it is more for fun, the phone won't need that kind of speed for perhaps 99.99% of the time.

Is SIMBA 2.5Gbps providing dynamic public IP address or otherwise?

Anyone knows? Thanks

If your IP camera/NAS manufacturer supports some sort of NAT traversal, then can, if not Tailscale.

Personally I'll just go with tailscale in this scenario.

I mean like M1, in my case, I can remote access my home's surveillance cameras because M1 provides dynamic public address. Starhub too because I checked with them.

Whereas MR provides dynamic private IP address. So to remote access home IP surveillace cameras you'll need to convert it to the paid static public IP address. MR has no dynamic public IP address

I doubt home IP camera/NAS manufacturer supports some sort of NAT traversal. I'm not sure about NAS but is very sure those cheap home IP surveillance cameras don't support it.

That's why I'm asking whether SIMBA provides dynamic IP address and you replied that it is CGNAT. So does CGNAT allows remote access to my home's devices?

I have many IP cameras installed and I need to access them remotely when I'm outside. And I'm planning to upgrade to 2.5Gbps plan from my current 1Gbps plan.

SIMBA meets my need of a 2.5Gbps ISP as it offers an ONT and I already have my 2.5Gbps router. I'm 2.5Gbps-ready. The only thing I need to confirm is whether I can remote access my home devices

Thanks
