I submitted a request to port my mobile number to SIMBA on 19 Apr 2024 and was notified that my esim was activated on 21 Apr. When I tried to activate Simba's esim on 21 Apr, I kept receiving an error message that the esim cannot be activated and to contact simba support despite multiple tries. Every day for 4 days, I logged a request to support for a replacement esim but only received Simba's reply to check their FAQs and the steps to activate the esim even though I attached screenshot of the error message and reiterated that I have tried the steps countless times from day 1.
Finally after 6 days of no mobile connection where I cannot access Internet or make calls, I ported out to giga who got my connection up within a day. But the simba nightmare continues because for the next 11 days after that, Simba refused to transfer my number to giga and tried instead to persuade me to stay with them. They suggested I pay $5 to get my esim replaced at their service centre even though the original esim I received never worked.
When I still insisted on porting out, they suggested I port out only after 30 days otherwise I have to pay a $30 activation fee. The so call No Lock In period is also a scam because effectively, you cannot port out within 30 days. After wasting so much of my time over 13 days and still cannot get connected to Simba, I decided I will just pay the $30 to end my ordeal. But they refused to accept online payment even though they charge my subscription to my credit card. I was told to go to the designated service centre too make payment.
Finally, I make a special trip to Orchard Central service centre to pay the $30 activation fee on 7 May to try and end this frustrating and depressing saga. Even though I was ranting to the counter staff about my frustration, no one was interested to find out what I went through or to attempt to perform service recovery. They simply took my payment and usher me out.
I went through 17 days of frustration, paid $10 subscription and $30 activation fee, but I couldn't even use Simba's mobile plan. If I hadn't switched out to giga after 6 days, I would have been without a mobile connection for 17 days.
I have learnt my lesson . The bit of saving is totally not worth the ordeal I went through and time wasted over the 17 days. Good luck to all those who chose to subscribe to simba!
