Every SIMBA TPG mobile number has an account balance. You can top up money to this account balance.
Money will be deducted from this account balance for excess usage charges -- including excess SMS charges.
Other services like making overseas IDD calls, sending overseas SMS etc, will also be deducted from this account balance.
If there's no money in your SIMBA TPG account balance -- then excess usage will no longer work.
If there's sufficient money in the account balance,
renewal of SIMBA TPG plan (every 30days) will also deduct money from the account balance FIRST -- instead of deducting from your credit/debit card.
If there's not enough money in your SIMBA TPG account balance for plan renewal -- then money will be deducted from your credit/debit card.
ALL THE ABOVE info -- are on the SIMBA TPG FAQ pages -- go read the FAQ pages at these 2 links below:

BTW,
for SMS:
You can send UNLIMITED SMS to other SIMBA TPG mobile lines -- while only 30, 50 or 100 SMS are included in the respective SIMBA TPG plans to send to non-SIMBA TPG lines (excess local SMS cost 5¢ per SMS).
Hi, I am a returning customer of TPG.
Previously was very impressed with TPG's 4G+ download speed, and four bars 4G download speed even at deserted areas like Sungei Gedong Camp, but I went over to giga after three weeks because I prematurely used finish my data, and that was before I found out that actually can top up the TPG wallet to use that to pay for additional SMS usage during the remainder of the billing period.
The reason for returning to TPG is because TPG is the only main telco that offers free roaming data to Malaysia, which would really save a lot of money for Singaporeans like me, who only go to JB Sentral area when crossing the border into Malaysia. Whereas other telcos charge at least $5 for 1GB of roaming data for 5 days, TPG offers 1GB of roaming data per month (TPG now got promotion, can use up to 3GB of roaming data per month in Malaysia), which would really benefit Singaporeans who may want to go to Malaysia every weekend, just to go to JB Sentral, as they can get to save up to $20 of roaming data charges.
Although there's also a virtual mobile operator offering free roaming data in Malaysia, that one is a Malaysia company, using a Singapore telco network. Due to rivalry reasons, there is a possibility that that Singapore telco may only allow that Malaysia company to use the lowest spectrum of their 4G coverage, which is what another virtual mobile operator is suffering, as their team is mainly employees from another country, although that other virtual mobile operator has affiliation with a major company in Singapore.
TPG, on the other hand, uses its own 4G network in Singapore. Furthermore, TPG is of Australia origin, and Singapore and Australia are very good friends.
At the same time, yours truly was a graduate from the RMIT university, which is a university in Australia that has a QS ranking of 206 in the year 2021.
I am really happy to return to TPG, and I would like to subscribe to TPG for a very long time.
Anyway, I have a question that would like to ask. You wrote that "If there's no money in your SIMBA TPG account balance -- then excess usage will no longer work.".
I would like to know, does this mean that I can use my TPG data worry-free, and even if I use finish my TPG data allowance for the month, there won't be excess data charge, as long as my TPG wallet balance is zero?
I would need you to understand that this is an important question, as from my experience with TPG and with other telcos so far, TPG data use very fast. In fact, it's two times faster than other telcos. For example: although today is only my first day returning to TPG, I have already used 1.1GB of local data.
This means to say that in a 30-day cycle, I would probably use about 30 plus GB of TPG data.
The plan that I am currently subscribing is the $10 for 50GB plan. There is currently an additional 50GB allowance due to a promotion. Thus, with 100GB of data allowance, it should be enough to meet my data requirements, even if TPG measures the data at a higher rate than the other telcos.
If TPG allows the existing TPG customers to change to another TPG plan in the future, I would be willing to switch to the $18 for 80GB plan. That is if my data usage habit remains the same at that time. Even if by then, the additional 50GB promotion no more already, the $18 for 80GB is within my affordability level (after all, this was what I paid to giga for their 50GB plan, which after all the bonus data, the data allowance is actually around 100GB).
Well, that's why I am asking, about whether if the data will just cut off when use finish, if the TPG wallet no money, cuz the 50GB confirm not enough for me to use one.
But anyway, I will probably switch to the 80GB in the future when there is no more additional 50GB data.
Another thing is, regarding the SIMBA, I personally believe that is just the TPG tagline at the moment, cuz SIMBA is the short form for "Simply the best".
TPG's name is probably still TPG, and it will forever be TPG.
Last but not least,
I believe TPG knows that a lot of people port over to TPG because of the free roaming data to other countries like Malaysia.
Hopefully, the free roaming can remain a permanent feature of TPG mobile plans.
Love,
A customer who is actually willing to pay $18 per month for mobile service, but since TPG currently has a promotion of $10 for 100GB, I might as well use the $10 plan first, later then switch to the $18 plan.
