Need some guidance on roaming to Malaysia.

I'm currently on the $10/50GB per month plan and I understood that it comes with a free 1GB data roaming.

I went to the website to look for data package deal (e.g. $xx for 5GB/3days & etc) and could not find any. It seems that they only have $4/GB charges. And it's charged on a 10MB block.

So for understanding purposes, can I check whether the charges for 2.1GB usage will be as such:

1st GB - FREE
2nd GB - $4
0.1GB - $4 (exceeded 10MB and will be charged FULL 1GB)

So total charges for data roaming for the above 2.1GB scenario will be S$8.

Do I get it right for the above scenario?

Thanks

You'll only be charged 4 cents every 10 Mb. Hence your last 0.1 Gb will be 40 cents.

Just heads up, don't get SIMBA 80xx series of number for your iPhone/iPads. From my experience, Apple has trouble recognizing the numbers as they may be too new and can't authenticate. I ready to stand corrected if others have been successful.

Can't call my father's mobile (S8 plus) with Simba from my home fixed line, but can call my home fixed line using the same S8 plus.

Volte enabled. Anybody knows why?

The home fixed line works with other family member's phones using Singtel and Starhub.

Can other family members call this S8 plus?

Reboot the phone and try again, if the issue persists, call their service line for help

Anyone managed to use TPG/Simba in Japan? There's no network :(
Did you choose KDDI as the service provider? And is your device VoLTE supported? According to Simba website, "A VoLTE supported device is required for a working roaming service in Japan".

What you're asking is actually home networking config / WiFi coverage issue -- not really SIMBA telco issue.
(should ask this in a home networking thread -- rather than in this SIMBA telco thread).

Since you say you now using M1 500Mbps home fibre Internet -- then which router are you currently using for this M1 500Mbps fibre?

(1) Your current router that's used on the M1 500Mbps -- is WiFi coverage good enough to reach your bedroom?

(2) If your current router's WiFi range is good/sufficient, then next question is -- the no-brand 4G SIM China router you bought -- got LAN ports?

If yes to both above (1) & (2), then the solution is simple:

(a) Change or convert your current router into AP (access point) mode.
(b) Connect a network cable from one of your current router's LAN ports to one of the LAN port on the 4G SIM China router.
-- read your current router's manual to confirm when changed to AP mode, whether WAN or LAN port should be used for uplink connection.
(c) Make sure your current router's IP is in the same subnet range as the no-brand 4G SIM China router.

Done. :)

If you don't want to do the above, or don't know how to do the above...

And wish to just spend money to buy another 4G SIM router w/ better WiFI coverage...

Then go buy the Asus 4G-AX56 router.

This Asus 4G-AX56 -- likely have better WiFI coverage than the no-brand 4G SIM China router.
(but this Asus 4G-AX56 cost $3xx; may cost $2xx during promo or when discount coupon is available).

Yes, the Asus 4G-AX56 router is a normal WiFi 6 (AX) router -- w/ additional nano SIM slot.

Yes, this Asus 4G-AX56 router supports 4G band 8 + band 40 -- so should be able to support use of SIMBA SIM.
Hi boonkang, thanks for your detailed reply.
I was also thinking of connecting my China no-brand SIM router to my current broadband router as it can transmit stronger signal to reach further.
I'll also go find out how much I've to pay after my M1 broadband contract expires and I don't recontract.

I'm also m1 500Mbps, after 1st contract no need to recontract, price remain @ 29.9$

Read HWZ Forum Rules!
Looks like you're correct.
Below is the answer from M1.

What happens after my Fibre Broadband contract expires?

Your home broadband service will continue even after the contract expires, unless otherwise stated on your contract.

Subscription wise, if your contract was signed on 1 Aug 2019 or later, the monthly subscription will remain the same.

However if your contract was signed before 1 Aug 2019, your monthly subscription will revert to non-promotional price as the discount has expired. If so, it's time for you to re-contract and enjoy subscription from $29.90/mth!

Hi I have 2 phones, Samsung S10e and Redmi K50, and 2 Simba sim cards. Both work fine in SG.
But The Redmi phone has no roaming service in EU and US, (but ok in Malaysia and Thailand etc), regardless which Simba sim I try. Meanwhile Samsung is working fine, regardless where it is or which sim card I try.

Recently I chanced the concept of 4G bands. So I figured out the different bands in my 2 phone is the reason. China Redmi phone is more limited in bands as they intend to sell it only in china.

My Questions are:

1) is the limited built-in bands the reason why redmi phones doesn't roam 4G in EU and US etc? Or is it cos of china rom?
2) if I still want to buy china phones, what are the bands I need to ensure it has?
3) In other words how do I check the bands in destination countries that I travel often for work? EU( i read EU must have B20, true?) US, Japan, Korea, Australia, India etc.

Thanks a million! I really want to love and use these cheap and good china phones.

If you buy the global version of the China brand phone, maybe it'll support more bands. I've used xiaomi phones for many years but I only buy the global version. No problem in roaming in any country.

I didn't try to slot into my iPhone cos already having too many simcard.

Quick question on SIMBA VoLTE Supported handsets (The need to use SIMBA Voice App).

I understand that the list of VoLTE Supported Device stated in the link below is kinda outdated and the latest phone in the list is Samsung S21, which is a 2021 phone. (TPG Free Trials starts on January 2019, so probably till 2021 is the period where TPG SIMBA is working with various phone manufacturers to implement their carrier profile?)

https://support.simba.sg/hc/en-us/articles/4486876235801-What-are-the-supported-devices-
https://www.simba.sg/static/media/VoLTE-Devices.255035f9.pdf
Is it safe to say, that any locally purchased phones from the authorized distributor (Major brands such as Samsung, Xiaomi / Redmi / POCO, Oppo, Vivo, Realme, Sony, Google Pixel and the Major Big brands) that are 2022 models onwards all supports the SIMBA VoLTE, without the need to use the SIMBA Voice App? I do know about the Xiaomi USSD Code that need to dial for the VoLTE function, and Google Pixel is known to be problematic, but what about the other brands?

Is there any possibility that a 2022 (or 2022 onwards) released phone (from the major brands sold here) does not support the SIMBA VoLTE? Anyone that purchased a 2022 released phone from major big brands that does not work with SIMBA VoLTE and still need to use the SIMBA Voice App? Thanks in advance!

Very difficult to say one. My Redmi K50 Ultra export set support SIMBA out of the box (APN auto created and HD logo enabled). Whereas Samsung phones bought locally support VOLTE but u have to create the APN.
