Hmm.. Which one?

My one cheap phone. no harm trying! 🤭

- 5G LOCK Web Browser Dev
- Lock 4G / LTE & 5G Switcher & Cah Telu Developer
IMHO.
U born May/June period har ?
Anyway, good luck with the testing. I hope it will work for you.
If u search, there are actually apps that lock in to the 5G band but to the phone maybe adverse.
Still thinking I should try or not. 🤔
Fire up your phone dialer and key in "*#2263#" (S23 Ultra) Do at your own risk!
select [1] Band selection sim 1 (if your sim card is in slot 1)
select [7] clear all bands
select [6] NR5G Band Preference
select [1] NR All
select [F] Go main (back to main page)
select [A] Block set by AP
select [9] Apply band configuration
DONE! Above settings will set your phone radio to strictly 5G ONLY, for testing purpose.

Steps to change back to default
select [1] Band selection sim 1
select [7] clear all bands
select [3] WCDMA ALL (3G, skip this if you do not want to switch to 3G network when your 4G/5G is weak. If u are using SIMBA, you can safely skip this as SIMBA doesn't support 3G,)(Go in and select WCDMA ALL)
select [5] LTE ALL (4G) (Go in and select LTE ALL)
select [6] NR ALL (5G) (Go in and select NR ALL)
select [A] Block set by AP
select [9] Apply band configuration
Done. This will set your phone to 3G, 4G, 5G.

Boss, referring to ALL SA and NSA included. If u techie enough, u go inside, u can choose all SA or NSA, If u even smarter, u can even choose specific band which your telco is using. But this will affect you when u go example Malaysia, because we do not know which band are they using when we roam using their network.

PS: NR ALL meaning New Radio ALL.

Err... Scary mommy! 🥶

Okay. Let's say if I somehow cocked up my phone after messing up the bands! 😬 Am I still be able to recover my phone fully by flashing the phone firmware using Odin?🤔

No boss, sharing is caring lar. That Service settings is default in Samsung phone, I had been using this to set since S21 series.. So, my network always on 4G/5G, never once go to 3G which is too slow for me to use.

Mr Porter, this settings will NEVER cock up your phone, never even need to reset or flashing. Just normal bands selection.

Will the settings persists with fw update, or rebooting the phone?

Yes. So far I remember it will stay even after upgrading. Else just set it again lor, 1 min work. Rebooting will stay put as well.

Which Europeean countries you traveled to? What's yours review about Simba data roaming ? Any issues or observations?

I travelled to Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. Transited via Finland.

Touch down Finland; straight away got 5G, only Elisa network has volte. Other network no volte.

Pretty much had no much issues on data roaming on all the countries. It was very seamless. Only experience 5G at Finland and Belgium (certain spots in the city). I won't say the speed as I never test. Its 4G is fast enough to load things.

As for phone calls, most Europe countries don't have volte. So I will just use SIMBA Voice app to call home. Calling home is free, I've made calls longer than 30min and its also free.

The only slight issue I observed is when in Belgium, as network operator selected as auto, it locked on to a weaker operator and got only 3G. Hence, unable to make simba Voice call back home. I have to manually switch to a better network, to call home. Otherwise its works way better than my other phone running ICC card, where there are places with no network.

I'm using esim though.
I shared your experience with a SIMBA subscriber currently somewhere in Europe.
This is his experience...

Yes, we were able to call both SG mobile and land line from Norway. It's free using SIMBA Voice apps.

My friend called me from SG using SIMBA Voice but only I can hear him and he can't hear me.

He later switched to normal VOLTE mobile line (without using the Voice apps) and we heard each other perfectly. But he had to put +65 to my SG phone number.

Such is the tweaking that we have to do to get free calls. Hahaha.

Still improvements to be made for Europe roaming. Only certain network operators in Europe support Volte. Hope in very near future, they will open up more volte partners, to make it more seamless.

I would be an Aston Martin F1 team using an engine developed by Mercedes than being Mercedes themselves, or Ferrari for that matter.

By then they would use a Honda engine. 😆

Confirmed.
Later plan to go to Vivo again, will try to run fast.com when I am there.
I also have a S23U, will swap SIM and see if 5G will work.
So yesterday I went to Vivo again, confirmed at multiple locations such as Kopitiam and Food republic that 5G is available. This is iphone 14 pro, the speed though is barely desirable, on fast.com it only registered between 130 and 150mbps.
I put the sim into s23u and it didn't show 5G, so same observation as keenklee. I didn't try the settings by tohchr, and the speed at 4G at the same location is about the same as the 5g on iphone 14p.

So, SIMBA 5G doesn't work with all Samsung phones. SAd! 🥲

Fast enough for a Telco with limited 5g license.
