Well I am sure this is covered by some TnC buried in their website so just got to suck it up since a mistake was made.
Their "Critical Information Summary (CIS)" just indicates no-refunds. Even a request to provide us a SIM-card with data was refused. Paid $30 to receive nothing at all. We will try for a chargeback through my wife's credit card bank.

So just no refunds is not enough? You want them to also state no Sim card with data, no blah blah, no blah blah, no any number of options and permutations ?

Do you have a vested interest in SIMBA? You seem overly defensive for a company that clearly has poor customer service. I understand there is no refunds but there was 0 attempts made for alternative solutions by SIMBA or for them to retain a customer. Note that I requested for a workaround but even that was denied. I wasn't even requesting for a refund.

On the other hand, there are many companies that I have pleasant customer service experiences, companies like Dell, Microsoft, or even Shopee.

I begin to appreciate those Telco (e.g. CM Link, Maxx, Heya) which give temporary no. for users, while waiting for port-in to take effect. I think this should be the correct (& fairer) way. In case the port-in fails, at least users still can use the temporary no.

I definitely agree. From my knowledge, Giga also does this. I'm certain many issues that users face can be attributed to their own mistakes (like in my case), but how a company responds to the issue speaks volumes about the company. They have the right to react whatever way they choose, just like how consumers have the right to share their grievances. Plenty of telcos and MVNO to choose from.

I did mention to them that i was aware this was a recycled number as there was a pre-existing WhatsApp account tied to this number to help with their investigation. I speculate that the previous customer may have bought the number but didn't service the monthly billing, so the number got returned to the normal number pool. But its just speculation la, could have been other issues behind it.

Still, no reason to make me pay up when I didn't agree to the lucky number T&Cs.

Suggest you wait for 2 to 3 days for Simba to sort out internally.
Failing which, suggest you e-mail Simba that since this matter cannot be resolved between you & Simba, you will file a complaint to IMDA. That may prompt them to expedite the internal process.
If not, then no harm writing to IMDA for advice, as there is absolutely no reason for you to bear any cost based on the info you mentioned.

No vested interest, we have 3 lines since 1st day of free trial till now, didn't have any need for CS all these years so no opinion about the quality of the CS, just felt that a mistake was made own the mistake simple as that.

My wife recently tried to port over her number from another Telco but inputted the wrong number by mistake. SIMBA refused to amend the number for us, and also refused to provide a random number on a SIM card so that we can at least utilize the data that we paid for ($30/90days). Just said that the plan fee is non-refundable. What a joke of a Telco.

Hey i am facing this problem too. I input wrong number when i am activating the sim card, yet it go through. And i only receive another email the next day tell me number is wrong.

They are not clear about whats next for the resolution, so i am just stuck like that.

What should i even do. This is porting a number from M1 to Simba.............then now my number belongs where? lol...

Is your number already ported out from M1? If not it'll still be with M1. You can try SIMBA's email or their Instagram chat. Instagram chat was quicker for me. If it's anything like the CS I encountered, you'll just be told "no refunds" with no attempts to resolve your issue or to provide you alternatives. All the best and keep us updated.

IMHO.
Since not successful, the number is still with M1.
Just port to Heya.SG or something. :ROFLMAO:

I am not sure if it is ported out of M1. As of yesterday i saw that the number no longer appears in my m1 app number list. I think i still get signal connection on the phone though.

IMHO.
Based on what Simba.SG provided on their website.
See the bold items below.
Ask them how they arrive at the $500.

You also can write to IMDA for help.

With the influx of $10 plans from other MVNOs, I think it is affecting them.

Get Your Lucky Mobile Number with SIMBA

  • You can choose your Lucky Mobile Number online or via WangLei.
  • Lucky mobile number reservation is for new SIMBA mobile plan sign-up.
  • Number reservation is on a first-come-first-serve basis and upon successful reservation.
  • All Lucky mobile numbers are sold at a discount of 50% (unless otherwise specifically stated for special promotions), and the price that the customer paid is after the discount is applied. The discount is provided to the customer on the condition that the customer continues with a valid mobile plan with SIMBA for a period of 24 months from the activation of the Lucky mobile number). The discounted amount will be chargeable to the customer if the customer requests for porting-out or the customer’s mobile plan is terminated for any reason whatsoever, before the expiry of the period of 24 months from the activation of the Lucky mobile number. The amount chargeable would be pro-rated based on the number of remaining months until the expiry of the 24 months.
  • Lucky mobile numbers may not be resold, assigned or transferred to any third party, except with SIMBA’s prior approval in writing, which shall be subject to SIMBA’s sole discretion.
  • SIMBA may change or withdraw the Lucky mobile number without prior notice to the customer, without being liable to the customer on any basis whatsoever, if such change or withdrawal is required by IMDA or relevant regulatory authority or any changes to SIMBA’s telecommunications network.
  • These Lucky Number Reservation Terms & Conditions are subject to SIMBA’s General Terms and Conditions available at simba.sg. SIMBA reserves the right to vary these Lucky Number Reservation Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice. I was wondering what other escalation paths I should take if they do not settle this. Thanks keen & turtle bros for the IMDA tips.

Yea as crystalnox guessed, I main-ed the number and need more consistent connection. Can't reliably get good connection for WhatsApp calls in some basements etc in SG environment.
The 57 countries 1GB roaming is really good though, can even get 5G connection overseas. Kudos to SIMBA for that, so I'm still keeping another active plan with SIMBA to support them. Just 放过 my main line la... :(

ok Simba just replied me, but the reply also not clear. He simply said "You need to register again".

But seeing complains here, i am concluding that my previous registration was voided all because i enter a wrong number during my sim card activation. And i wasted $10.

This is terrible system if it works like that. I mean its common that ppl make mistakes with fat fingers, Sure you can just say its invalid and re key in the right number but they allow it to go through and only tell you its incorrect later and the penalty is to reregister and pay $10 again. zzzzzz

Crazy. but they are indeed cheap, what to do. I will just reregister, but really shock.

Then also im wondering if i did enter it wrongly or the system just change the number to incorrect for me....

If your main objective is data (100GB), there are many alternatives ($10) at the moment, e.g. Zym secret plan, Heya, CM Link's physical store sign-up, etc. Just have to read thru other threads for more details.

Of course whichever telco you choose, you still need to check & double-check your personal/ port-in details.

I was using my phone with SIMBA network at Tan Tock Seng hospital the other day. At the diagnostic clinic, my phone had no signal, but my other phone under vivifi was working fine.
