Hi may I know why Simba has a compatible phone list and the other MVNO do not? Why is it different for SImba?

And the Simba Voice App doesnt work reliably...as in receiving calls.

The reason they did is because they are the fourth telco in Singapore that only manage and operate 4G/5G networks.

The other 3 (Singtel, Starhub and M1) are managing 3G/4G/5G).

Hence, there are a lot of people, especially seniors still using old phones that are 3G. 4G requires volte or 4G voice. Hence, SIMBA have to publish a list of compatible phones that support 4G and its volte. Otherwise, you have to download simba voice app for older phones to make phone calls.

As of July 2024, M1 has retired it's 3G network. So right now, Simba and M1 are the only 2 telcos managing and operating 4G/5G infrastructure.

I see...I have a Zenfone 8 and Simba doesnt support it but Eight does. So I was wondering why.

I really like the size of my Zenfone 8 and doesnt wish to change it so I was OK to using the Simba Voice App as an alternative. But it is not even receiving calls.

And email to support can be trying when they tend to give irrelevant answers. Sigh.

Since I am based overseas, Simba so far has worked well for me especially for roaming and calling back to SG and receiving OTP.

simba is not MVNO.

simba voice app is reliable. the problem you faced is due to your phone's settings. you killed the simba app when it is in tge background mode.

go to settings, to change to always on. most likely under battery saver section

I am aware so I have always set it to auto start and I dont kill it in the background. I need to have the app open for any calls to come in.

Did you enable VoLTE on the zenphone 8 ?
You might need to refer to this :

you dont kill but the system might kill it by itself. so you have to find out how to disable the autokilling

Hi, if I terminate SIMBA number, is there any ways to keep/redeem the balance ? Say can just keep there if I want to port another number over to use ? Thanks

I thought it may be this issue. But my SIM2 (foregin SIM) settings show VOLTE option but SIM1 (SIMBA) settings doesnt show VOLTE.

So I am assuming it is enabled.

Also I am unable to unlock the bootloader of Zenfone 8. I read that Asus has disabled it.
For phones that can enable/disable VoLTE, usually it is done separately for each sim.
Newer phones may not have that option and enables VoLTE by default.

You will expect VoLTE to be a feature that simply works when available, but apparently it is not uncommon to be specific to telcos. Either the phone needs a profile for the telco or the telco need to allow a certain phone, or both. Given that Simba is relatively new, this might indeed be an issue, esp if you have not received software update for some time.
