In fact, it is happening now for my primary line. :D

Of cause! I cannot put my money in one basket.

This current SIMBA (Secondary line) will be switching to $10 ZYM as a backup after the SIMBA 30 days minimum stay.

My primary line should be ported over from Maxx to SIMBA in the next day or 2. :)

Porting quota from Singtel and Singtel virtual operators to Simba exceeded daily quota. Just have to wait for backlog to clear.

Or maybe can ask IMDA if that's true, and allowed to...? Doesn't sound right to me too...

Can like that block because of quota one ah, and only Singtel 🤔 is it tio aim
I went down to ask simba..

They say yes, backlog of porting cos got quota. Lol.

So it's true.. And don't know when then will have quota to send out for porting...

Simba has network priority advantage over other mvno. Can stay connected when going certain places like jurong east interchange, or watch concert at stadium. For singtel need to buy $5 express pass
simba is not mvno. dont compare apple to orange.

Can ask you guys, what is your reason for sticking with SIMBA, not porting to other $10 plans like VIVIFI or ZYM, or eight for $8?

For average download speeds, VIVIFI or eight are surely faster.

If for global roaming, these all provide reasonable amount of MY TH ID data, and for countries outside SEA region, I find always cheaper to just get eSIM on shopee or taobao (about $10 for 10GB).

So why still choose SIMBA?
Lack of wifi calling on most Singtel based MVNO would be an important one for me, particularly if it is for the primary line.

I thought must use the SIMBA Voice app when overseas for the incoming calls to be free? You just accept it like a normal phone call and it’s still free in that situation?
no la. the phone app is used for those phones that does not support volte.

Another point that i just recalled, now that you mentioned it about using the app to receive calls overseas.

Even if your phone supports volte in Singapore, it might not work overseas. This is because, their roaming partner in the country might not support volte. For those countries roaming partner that does not have volte, everyone must download the volte app. I previously used it few years ago used it while roaming in Belgium, operator does not support volte (Using Galaxy S22 Ultra).

The app is used not only for incoming calls, but also outgoing calls for countries that do not support volte. Or if your phone does not support volte in Singapore. Most new phones in Singapore already support volte, so no need for the app in Singapore. But one might need it overseas.

Best to check simba website for it's roaming partner if it supports volte. Hope it helps

When overseas network supports VoLTE then no need Voice app.
Use Voice app only when no VoLTE support.
I had no idea, that’s great to know! I’ve always been using the Voice app because scarred will get charged.

Thanks, this is super helpful!

from what you posted, it seems I can make outgoing and receive incoming calls while overseas and it’s free, not charged roaming fees, if the calls are over VoLTE? Is that accurate or only applies to receiving incoming calls while overseas that is free?

if don’t have VoLTE, would VoWiFi be viable as well? Not sure if they support WiFi calling now.

No need voice app if your phone support VoLTE. Remember to add +65 in front of the SG number which u wanna dial to. Ever since I used Simba, I save all my contacts number with +65 in front.
