too bad for him, starhub will not be an option as he has top up $120 in his simba account last month during the top up offer.
Why wouldn’t it be an option? I don’t think anyone is suggesting that he port his line.

But I think there’s a better option. Roamify is US$5 for 1GB for 7 days -— or US$6 if valid for 365 days. Another option is 2GB for 15 days for US$7.50. Less 5% using a coupon code. See esimdb.com for these offers.

And it’s the Maldives! The point of visiting the Maldives is to disconnect and relax.

You are right, point of going maldives is to disconnect, but not for him. He said, he is going to the city, don't know for what.

Told him to get local SIM instead, he found out there is a ooredoo tourism sim, US$50 for 100GB data.

thank you

That’s not awful, although it’s not really 100GB. It’s actually 30GB plus 70GB “social data” (restricted to certain sites such as WhatsApp, Instagram, and TikTok). (He’s going to the “city” to use…Instagram?🤔) If he can survive with “only” 20GB (data for all purposes) for 30 days he can cut that to US$34 (Airlo with esimdb.com coupon code). And still step off the plane with service. Alternatively, if he wants a real 100GB that’s US$57 (Roamify, with esimdb.com coupon code).

I see.

If not then pay SIMBA S$15 for 1GB or S$30 for 2GB, effective price is only S$7.5 for 1GB and S$15 for 2GB, because of the top-up offer.
Or is it okay not to roam since it is expensive and Maldive seems not quite a location that really needs data connection? Will the user be able to use Simba IDD without roaming, say via wifi connection through Voice app, and also receiving incoming SMS?

My friend will be travelling to Maldives soon. It seems like there is not many options for affordable .

simba, eight or maxx doesn't cover Maldives in their global roaming. It cost $15/GB on simba (Group C).

Anyone has other suggestion for maldives roaming? Shopee sim not cheap either
Been there. Bought esim from shopee and worked flawlessly. Simba won't work...

Iphone 15 n 15+. Another iPhone 15 n honor phone were working fine for tiktok. Weird.
Switch to ZYM then it work fine

i was facing the same issue when in HangZhou, using Samsung and Honor. I thought it is because of Honor, but my Samsung was a problem too w/ TT. Happening with both Simba and Eight simcard. I didn't have Zym.

Now simba got alot trolling about speed thought only exclusive to Eight

i barely kissed 50gb. if watch streaming, need to midway change to singtel it instantly stop the spinning. then why topup it? reception is not equal to throttle leh.

Full of lan zao shu from keppel. Every few secs throttle. Every few secs throttle.

Why not simba half the given gb instead, restore back to original.

Not tested with eight, but my test shows SIMBA China roaming is okay with TikTok.

I also had no issues using CUniq and giga data eSIM with TikTok either in China.

I was using two Poco X7 Pro phones.

Take note that I do not really use TikTok so it was just a brief testing.

One idea: if you have issues with TikTok, try to remove its access to location, not so sure if this helps though.

Time to port, not everyone is suitable for Simba or others etc.. trial and test till you find it suits your needs.

I do not need multiple lines as well.

Connected at 5G (no wrong doings here)
Cap speed at 4G or less (who can verify?)

If the following is correct, SIMBA limit 5G download speed to about 204 Mbps.

Take this kind of limit may not be super accurate so you may get slightly higher than 204 Mbps download occasionally but not much higher than 204 Mbps.

StarHub

MyRepublic 5G Essential Plan $15.95/month (only available in-app):
QCI 140 APN: shwap
AMBR: 4000/400 (5G)

MyRepublic 5G Flexi Plan $13.95/month (also only available in-app):
QCI 140 APN: shwap
AMBR: 4000/400 (5G)

MyRepublic 5G Prime Plan $12.95/month:
QCI 140 APN: shwap
AMBR: 4000/400 (5G)

eight 4G $8 Plan:
QCI 170 APN: shwap

giga 5G 300+300GB $18.33/month:
QCI 170 APN: giga

SingTel

CMLink 4G 30GB with 10GB China Roaming $10.90/month:
QCI 9 APN: e-ideas
AMBR: 1000/100 (4G)

GOMO 5G+ Asia Infinity $30.56/month (still 5G NSA only as of 28/9/2025):
QCI 9 APN: hicard
AMBR: 1000/150 (5G)

ZYM Mobile Roam SMART 5G $15/month
QCI 9 APN: e-ideas
AMBR: 2000/100 (5G)

M1

M1 Maxx $10 5G $10/month
QCI 9 APN: sunsurf
AMBR: 4200/4200 (5G)

SIMBA

SIMBA SuperRoam 12 $12/month
QCI 9 APN: tpg
AMBR: 204/204 (5G)

Tested on realme GT Neo5 SE (realmeUI 6.0, Android 15)

StarHub uses non-standard QCI values on their network, so QCI 140 is actually one of the lowest I've seen on StarHub. However, since the priority of different QCI tiers can be customised by the carrier, I don't think anyone other than StarHub themselves knows which order their custom QCI values (140, 150, 170) are in terms of priority. From what I've seen the QCI values also change depending on if you're connected to 4G or 5G, as the QCI for MyRepublic SIMs on 4G appears to be 150, while it is 140 on 5G.

Updated with some new plans I've gotten to test and the AMBR (speed cap) values which I have gotten from Network Signal Guru. Format is Download/Upload in Mbps, and numbers differ between 4G and 5G for most plans. Keep in mind the limit is unlikely to affect true performance, as most are well above what our networks are capable of. The only ones that may present limits in speedtests are GOMO's 1000/150, ZYM's 2000/100 and SIMBA's 204/204, as each network is theoretically capable of higher downloads for GOMO and SIMBA, and higher uploads for ZYM.
