anyone can share how you manage to port out of Simba Telecom? It is such a screwed up telco.

I signed up for a SIM-only plan in early Jan. The network reception was terrible. Zero reception in the office and terrible reception everywhere else so I made a decision to get out straight away (I was willing to forgo all subscription fee for the rest of the month).

1. I went to subscribe to another telco's plan and requested Simba to port out
2. I was notified by the telco that Simba rejected the porting out
3. I emailed Simba. Simba decided to terminate my plan by the end of the month but yet do not effect the porting out
4. My mobile number become inactive at the end of the month.
5. The new telco couldnt port out because the mobile number was inactive and needed me to get Simba to reactivate the line
6. I went to their Orchard Central customer service centre and was told that I needed to pay $50 to reactivate the line. LL I was desperate to get out so I paid the $50.
7. After the line was reactivated, the telco still could not port in my number.
8. I reached out to Simba again and I was told by Simba that I have to pay another $30 to port out immediately otherwise I can only do so no less than 7 working days before the end of the monthly bill

What kind of customer service is this? Anyone manage to port out successfully without paying?

Usually Simba will be quite easy and not much catch as long as you know their terms and conditions. But your handling of the situation really falls into the perfect storm, the moment you terminate the line, you are truly at the mercy of the telco. But we all learn the lesson the hard way. Just remember, don't ever terminate your line if you still want the line, else the price to resurrect the line will be high.

Your Simba line has to be active in order to port out so your 2nd month payment has to be done.

With Simba there's a requirement that they adhere to that is you need to stay with them for minimum 30 days otherwise got to pay I think $30.

I guess your case is 2nd month payment not made in time so they terminated your line? I'm surprised they'd reactivate coz a friend asked before and they told him line died and buried.

Honestly I took the first $50 activation fee in my strides. But I was fuming when I was told that I had to pay another $30. There was clearly misrepresentation from them. I guess that this is their business model given their "cheaper" subscription fees. Making money from these means

It is the standard terms and conditions for minimum subscription period of all their plans. When you reactivate the line, it is considered a new subscription so the minimum stay reset again. Since you had already waited for so long, might else wait till the stay period requirement is met then port out.

it is your problem. dont blame simba.

you will face the same problem at any telco.

pay tuition fee to learn.

if you post here to ask before you do any thing, you can avoid the problem

I'm sorry to read of your experiences.

For future reference, you may want to test a new carrier by paying for one month on a new line — $10 for SIMBA, for example. (Or $5 on their senior plan.) Do not set up this line for automatic renewal; don't even provide a credit or debit card when you sign up. (This is much easier to do at a neighborhood shop where you just pay cash or use PayNow when you pick up the SIM or eSIM.) If you're satisfied with the new carrier's service, you can sign up for a second line and port in your number to that line. Then just let the first "trial" line die a natural death.

you gotta read their T&C, just like any business. i'd say it's reality not meeting your expectations. Not misrepresentation.

I'm just another consumer, so this is my guess to what happened: when your line died, they resurrected it for a fee. So, at that point, the "initial 30day stay" rule kicked in, hence the additional $30 is to port out within the first month. at that point, i guess it's pay and port out, or wait, pay the 2nd month, then port out.

what's the status now?

I think he paid everything and port out already.

IIRC only Eight and Maxx allow us to port out during the first 30 days. Don't know about the rest, as these are the only 2 I've tried. But then again, they're MVNOs unlike Simba.

tuas is very bad for M1 and Simba , my colleagues complaining.
Some parts of the island also bad reception or no reception, my wife complain.
surprisingly no one complain that cheap plans are expensive.

Huh? It was the opposite for me and my colleagues. For Tuas, M1 and Simba is very strong outdoors, Singtel at Tuas is the worst performer.

I'm referring to Tuas South, unless you are talking about other parts of Tuas. Tuas is super big.

Hanor, I'm also wondering.

I use a Simba phone to/fro Tuas/KSAB with auto-roam all the way into Gelang Patah before switching to Malaysian line for data.

Always been checking the Lugo app a couple of stops before Tuas Link Station for the CW7 schedule, on Simba connection.. Been able to check which means connection no issue.

Edit: Coming back been switching to Simba, no issue too. It's my Hotlink card that's difficulty switching back to Singtel so I just put to auto-detect and left it alone.

you sound abit like TKL who always travel the same way. ever met him while crossing? :D

Hotlink now prefers Starhub. wonder if Maxis relations with Singtel soured.
