Just replaced my sim card to 5G Ultra one at Kaki Bukit. The staffs there are very friendly and helped to activate the new sim card on the spot with Singpass. Tested the speed once with 5g/4g. I get 143Mbs for 5G and 70Mbps for 4G.

Friend went to Jalan Membina or whatever service centre that's across from Tiong Bahru Plaza.

Was told they can't do anything there coz they've not received the new cards.

He Ultra 🤬 at the 🦁.

Wonder where else now.

I have seen no signs that the new 5G Ultra sim support 5G-SA yet. I have 2 phones - one supporting only 5G-SA and the other supporting both 5G-SA & NSA. At same location, one phone shows 5G while the other only 4G/4G+, meaning that the 5G detected is likely NSA. If I switched the 4G/4G+ phone to gomo sim, it detect 5G (meaning 5G-SA is detected).

5G speed test with the new 5G-Ultra sim varies very much depending on locations. It can range from 20Mbps-190Mbps.

They need the phone with the old sim card and ic of the registered owner for identity/number verification. A new sim card will be issued and activated. If activation is allowed to be done at home, then likely you can collect the new sim card on owner's behalf (may be with a authorisation letter).

I can't tell if the new sim is better than the old one as it is still new. I think it should be an upgrade in some form otherwise Simba would not waste time & resources doing that.

I also went down this morning with the IDs and LoA but for swap, according to them, its the regulation by IMDA that LoA also cannot, need to the account owner to be there in person. (most probably to prevent spoofing and combat scams?)

ya its frustrating but LLST lah...

There’s absolutely no rush. He can personally arrange the swap when convenient for him, when he happens to be close to a SIMBA service location for some other reason — maybe for a medical appointment that happens to be near a SIMBA location. If for example that’s 4 months from now, no problem.
