Yeah change to the 5G SIM, still connected to Simba NR NSA mobile network.
Speed test is 10 times slower than on my Zym 5G SA network.

They are changing out all the existing customers' SIM card to 5G, just like what Singtel did to it's prepaid customers many months ago. It's in preparation for the launch of 5G SA.

Simba 5G SA still not LIVE yet, hence they are preparing it's customers to have 5G Ultra SIM ready. Once they are ready to go LIVE, customers can connect to their SA networks.

I'm already using their new sim card, no need to change for me.

There is no difference, just the same slowness.

I don't think changing the sim can see great improvement in Simba network.

For now whether SA or NSA, Simba 5G only using n1 band widely as far as I know.

In fact speed would be likely faster on NSA since it combines the traffic from 4G LTE (B8 or B40) and 5G (n1), here there is 2 lanes lor.
If SA, only got 1 lane which is n1.

Unless in future, Simba can use another band for 5G, then speed can get better through 5G carrier aggregation, just like the other 3 telco using (n1 +n78) combination.

Then I think only when Simba can implement 5G NR CA, then it will be Ultra lor…. So meanwhile it remains as “5G Ultra Ready”

TPG/Simba must also roll out a 5G standalone network from Jan 1, 2021 with

• 50% coverage within 2 years (i.e. by 31 Dec 2023),
• Nationwide coverage within 5 years (i.e. by 31 Dec 2026).

For Singtel and Starhub networks, we can forced the phone to use 5G SA eg:

However, using the new Simba 5G SIM card, 5G SA on/off toggle is not available on my iPhone I guess probably Simba has yet officially liaise with Apple and thus has yet pushed out an updated Carrier Bundle profile to iOS.

For those who remembered, that happened during TPG initial launch in Singapore where iPhone users during that initial period, were required to use the Simba Voice to make call till Apple released a new iOS 13.1 if I remembered correctly ….…

So I guess now even with 5G SIM, I only get connected to 5G NSA.

I am not sure if Android phone users will have the 5G SA toggle? Anyone especially on Samsung can verify?

I don't see any harm in doing it if one isn't inconvenienced in a big way.

There are no official notifications to check the sim card. So all this is jumping the gun imo. I'd wait for their official notification before deciding to change or not. No hurry. They r not even ready to announce anything yet.

I changed my SIM card on Thursday. It seems that I am losing connection more often nowadays and the phone is not able to get a signal until I toggle the Airplane mode. I switched to "4G Preferred" option on my phone for the Simba and network availability is a lot more stable. I am using a Oppo Find N6 for reference. Is anyone else facing the same situation as me?

I'm using Oppo Find N6 too. however I'm the exact opposite. it seems more stable with the new 5G SIM card.

This is strange. I rebooted a couple of times and it is still the same. Setting it as 4G Preferred works for for the time being ....

Simba ordered to pay S$700,000 in damages to indoor skydiving operator Altitude Xperience for trespass​

Telco-operator Simba has been ordered to pay S$698,594.50 in damages to Altitude Xperience, operator of indoor skydiving experience AltitudeX, for damages caused by using its rooftop space without paying rent. AltitudeX was formerly known as iFly Singapore.

Because of the equipment installed on the rooftop, Altitude Xperience was unable to install air-conditioning, resulting in the company being unable to host events during the day.

The total space occupied by Simba is 4.51 square metres.

Simba, the defendant, argued that the rooftop space it was using fell under the mobile installation space since it was unused, as provided for in the Code of Practice for Info-communication Facilities in Buildings 2018 (Copif).
