Tried to make a call using TPG's SIM for the first time and the connection was really bad. Couldn't hold any conversation with the other party. Kept getting cut off. Had to use my other mobile instead. I was calling from home. Anyone has any advice on how to troubleshoot? Thanks.

I receently just get one to try out. Good experience

1. Call and Data - pretty smooth without interruption
2. MRT Tunnel connection - smooth on facebook and some video, no interruption. Downtown Line - between Tampines to Chinatown
3. Scanning for QR code - smooth - be it in the building or ourside the building.

I am still monitoring the connection and interruption.

Depends on your location you are using and mrt lines you are traveling.. Maybe you can provide where you use your tpg line and the speed tests

As what said in my message, it was along Downtown line, between Tampines and Chinatown.

As i don't chase against speed, i don't test on Speedtest. As long as it don't spinning, should be ok. As i said, i have good experience. Other TPG user may offer their recent experience, and comment.

As my current contract is expiring soon, i am looking around for an alternative.

Do you have bad experience? How bad?

Actually it is not too bad most of the time. My kid can achieve 80-100Mbps D/L speed at Jurong Point and lower speed later on Green Line during weekday lunch hrs on a iphone 7+ so really no complains at that price point.

Thanks hk7310 for sharing your experience. I have not tested making calls whilst out. But I would certainly want to be able to make calls from the comfort of my home and I am seeing 3 signal bars at home. Are 3 bars too weak for a call?

I am using redmi note 9s with 2 SIM cards, Singtel and TPG. Set both call and data on TPG for testing purposes. No TPG app is needed when callout, just direct call out when needed.

Tested whatsapp video call, ok no interruption. Tested with MMS, also good.

Bank login verificatiion sms - good.

Thanks. Maybe it's because I have an older phone (Sony Xperia XA1 Plus) and I am using the TPG 4G Voice App. But I would really like to be able to place a proper call as I intend to purchase their top-ups to make IDD calls.

robocalls just dial from the 1st number to the last number, does not matter which telcos u r with. iphones can install sg govt's ScamShield app to block some of these calls, android dun have yet.
robo calls also change its number frequently, block also no use.

Hi, anyone has experience having TPG sim card in POCO M3 phone?

The working TPG sim card is added into the phone but the calling part (using telco signal) is not working. The signal is full bar.

Data is working fine. Can use WhatsApp, watch YouTube with no problem, running LTE. It is the calling out and receiving call that is not working. Using WhatsApp to call is ok since the network is fine.

APN setting is set by TPG.

Any suggestion or comment?

Thanks in advance.

TPG did the APN setting for you? Did you check if you could call while you're still there?

Normally after doing the APN setting, we'll restart the phone. Might have to use the app? Not familiar with Poco...

I mean when I inserted the TPG sim card, the settings were set automatically. I checked and the name and network in APN were set as TPN, rest left black.

The TPG sim card was used in iPhone 7 and Nova 3i earlier and it was fine. The card has been used for about a year liao.

VOLTE activated ?

Where is that option?

The setting " Preferred network type" is set as "Prefer LTE"

"Mobile network" is set as Automatically - TPG

EDIT:

Under SIM card settings, I do not have VoLTE option. Strange. I see this video there is an option at the bottom!

Maybe this video is more useful. Got some *# to activate.

I'm at woodlands Industrial Park E5 test the TPG and M1.. TPG is far better than M1..
TPG down near 100, up 20
m1 down 20, up 10
some more is open space.... M1 network really cannot make it...

If I'm not wrong, this has been mentioned many times (already).

Newer models of Xiaomi / Poco phones (including Poco M3) -- supports TPG VoLTE / VoWiFi.

The issue is -- many Xiaomi / Poco phones do not enable VoLTE / VoWifi support for all telcos -- by default.

But you can force Xiaomi / Poco phones to support VoLTE / VoWiFi for all telcos by doing the following:

1) Put TPG SIM card into SIM 1 slot on your Xiaomi / Poco phone. Turn on your phone.

(2) Dial *#*#86583#*#* (on phone dialer this means *#*#volte#*#*) on your Xiaomi / Poco phone.

-- You will see a message something like: "VoLTE carrier check disabled".

(3) Now reboot your phone.

(4a) After phone reboot -- go to 'Settings' --> 'SIM cards & mobile networks'.
(4b) Select TPG SIM (or select SIM 1 -- since your TPG SIM card is in SIM 1).

(5) Scroll down & enable the setting 'Use VoLTE'.
(After a short while, you should see the VoLTE logo at the top of your phone.)

***
If you want to use VoWiFi for TPG on your Xiaomi / Poco phone, repeat the above -- but for step (2) dial *#*#869434#*#* (on phone dialer this means *#*#vowifi#*#*).
