Most likely......

Expecting it to turn into another zero1 or myrepublic clone

Unlikely... probably even worse. Zero1 and MR don't need to build their own infrastructure, low capex.

On the other hand, TPG already paid for spectrum, and cannot compete due to lack of coverage. $10 plan cannot break even. Continuing to roll out 4G cell towers to meet minimum regulatory requirements when other telcos are already starting with 5G. Now take away funding from parent company and see which investor dare to touch.

Only winners I see here are the big 3 telco. Myrepublic should have won the bid, but now we have a half assed TPG instead.

If only MyRepublic won the bid back then, things will be vastly different.

Common problem when run by bean counter mba people who don’t know about tech.

They run through their business analysis numbers but never account for tech development.

Execs who propose such plan already likely left with resume that show he succeeded in challenging SG telco market with 416,000 subscribers during his tenure. Long term company health and sustainability are not mba exec concern.

from 416,000 free trial sub to 7,000 paid sub. How can they convince people to sign up is now their struggles, with limited underground connectivity.

7,000 x $10= $70,000. How to even pay their staff salary.

Although my number ported over to giga, tpg still sending mesdages saying my free trial is almost up hahahaha. So did my number successfully port over or not? Is that why the otp issue arises?

I did not receive any messages from TPG though after porting to MyRepublic. Your free trial end date is 30 May, right? I don't have any otp issues. Maybe you need to check more with people who ported to giga.

Then MR buy over TPG and launch the next round of $10 for 10GB plan
Haha. Re-launch with $10 for 50GB with unlimited data thereafter. Accelerate the installing of base stations underground. If MyRepublic is MNO and with their Talk app, i think it's a winner for roaming calls.

this is what i always wonder.

i dun think lion city can afford to have one more telco always as traffic light has only 3 colours. no others can join in the game anymore.

MVNOs can still survive maybe because they are reselling plans which ride under the 3.

in fact, nowadays the 3 telcos are not doing good as before.

nowadays most subscribers only pay them like $20 to $25 monthly for the sim-only plans. some maybe are paying more for like $40 to $60 due to 2 years mobile contract with phones purchase.

however, they dun earn much on the exceess usage nowadays be it talktime or data. most importantly, the price we are paying for the monthly plans is either same or lower than 20 years. take into the consideration of inflation, how to survive man. haha.

my TPG is confirmed ported over, because my sim no more connection on the day of ported over.

yeah. i hope they relauch the trial plan 2gb per day with unlimited data at 1Mbps. I sure will sign.

I supposed that the trial users can still use the sim even they have indicated terminated or nothing do anything with the existing sim. (damn, this is the part i regret always now to port the number out)

THE BIG SPLIT: TPG SINGAPORE TO GO IT ALONE

....... that number was down to 7,000 paying customers by the end of April.

end of April?

this article either typo or prematurely reported to make TPG looks bad.

Most trial users only need to convert by end May.

the official document did state as of end-April, they had 7000 paid customers.

They didn't say about end-May.

I think May will be a much higher number as someone here mentioned a steady queue about 2 weeks ago to collect SIM card at the Orchard Road office.

If they are not doing well, it would be good they consolidate it's efforts with one of the incumbent telecommunications company here. The sunny Telco could be a good choice.

M1-Tuas Telcom. Works on Band 1,3,7,8 and 40. Works under ground and always under the sun.

Tbh ah, if MyRep can swallow TPG up and take over the MNO license, that's a win-win!

Lol maybe. Keppel is rich enough to do such major acquisitions. They would do it. Then you can see 5CA happen on 4G+. Though the speed is still bad at max 300Mbps theoretical... So far the best speed I've attained under M1 is 150Mbps down actual and 45Mbps up actual.

so who is this tuas ltd who will take over TPG? Hopefully they will be able to compete and continue the trend of MVNO fighting for market share enabling competitive prices for consumers.

It's just a rebranding. Same staff same leadership...

So far, I've only gotten 125mbps download speed on M1. Previously, MyRepublic has raised enough funds to bid for the 4th telco license, but sadly they lost.
It would be good if they can buy over what is Tuas Ltd now.

Then it would be a win for all current MyRepublic Mobile and Broadband customers.

VHA-TPG merger: TPG wanted to keep Singapore division, but Vodafone don't want. As the company is 50.1% Vodafone AU, 49.9% TPG (which is further divided into different shareholders), TPG have no choice but to spin off the Singapore division.

TPG (TPG Telecom Limited) already had Tuas (Tuas Pty Ltd), which owns TPG Singapore (TPG Telecom Pte Ltd) and Tuas Solutions Sdn Bhd. So with the split, Tuas will become a full separate entity on it's own, with a new ticker in ASX (TUA).

TPG Telecom Limited will be rebranded as TPG Corporation. Vodafone Hutchison Australia Pty Limited and TPG Corporation will merge, and is called TPG Telecom Limited. Ticker will change from TPM to TPG in ASX. Not sure what will happen to HTA though.

So no, Tuas did not buy TPG Telecom Pte Ltd. They're just a spin off from existing TPG Telecom Ltd.

All existing ASX: TPM shareholders will get a special dividend that includes additional shares for ASX: TUA when it starts operating, while their existing shares will be converted to ASX: TPG.

Tuas Limited will still get up to 3 years of financial aid from TPG Limited as part of compensation from the demerger, to aid in completing rollout of nationwide network. TPG Branding will also be royalty free for up to 2 years from date of demerger, but they must rebrand by the time it ends.
