If they are not doing well, it would be good they consolidate it's efforts with one of the incumbent telecommunications company here. The sunny Telco could be a good choice.

M1-Tuas Telcom. Works on Band 1,3,7,8 and 40. Works under ground and always under the sun.
I have a feeling something like that will eventually happen. M1 might be too big for SH to eat and vice versa. But now TPG spin off with no baggage, I think they will make a good acquisition target in the future.

IMHO ones eaten twice shy.

We are enjoying cheap rates due to tpg. Normally all 3 Telco have smiliar pricing until tpg is here.

VHA-TPG merger: TPG wanted to keep Singapore division, but Vodafone don't want. As the company is 50.1% Vodafone AU, 49.9% TPG (which is further divided into different shareholders), TPG have no choice but to spin off the Singapore division.

TPG (TPG Telecom Limited) already had Tuas (Tuas Pty Ltd), which owns TPG Singapore (TPG Telecom Pte Ltd) and Tuas Solutions Sdn Bhd. So with the split, Tuas will become a full separate entity on it's own, with a new ticker in ASX (TUA).

TPG Telecom Limited will be rebranded as TPG Corporation. Vodafone Hutchison Australia Pty Limited and TPG Corporation will merge, and is called TPG Telecom Limited. Ticker will change from TPM to TPG in ASX. Not sure what will happen to HTA though.

So no, Tuas did not buy TPG Telecom Pte Ltd. They're just a spin off from existing TPG Telecom Ltd.

All existing ASX: TPM shareholders will get a special dividend that includes additional shares for ASX: TUA when it starts operating, while their existing shares will be converted to ASX: TPG.

Tuas Limited will still get up to 3 years of financial aid from TPG Limited as part of compensation from the demerger, to aid in completing rollout of nationwide network. TPG Branding will also be royalty free for up to 2 years from date of demerger, but they must rebrand by the time it ends.

So what does this means, Tuas Limited will have rights of the TPG brand for 3 years in Singapore? Thereafter, it will probably have a name change?

I would say TPG had little effect on the SG telco market. Can't compete without a proper network.

The MVMOs on the other hand, especially Circles, drove prices down. Remember 20GB for $20 addon from Circles? Absolutely revolutionary at the time. Now we have even cheaper plans and more MVNOs.

Meanwhile, Singtel still can have super uncompetitive pricing for mobile and internet, but still maintain significant market share. Goes to show how much the average Singaporean really cares about pricing.

Read the last sentence for the branding part bro. 3 years is financial aid, 2 years is rebranding.

Name change has to be done by mid-2022.

Like all those still paying SP full price for electricity, don’t even want to change to wholesale SP

I think the big 3 allowed to MVNO market to open up in order to hinder TPG? So indirectly, they hand an effect on the market. Hope the MVNOs continue to disrupt and at least maintain if not further bring down prices.

Mvno also in term help to bring up subscriber base for telcos losing out. Circles.life and MyRepublic customers who are using M1 network will be counted under M1 subscribers base. Hence, when a starhub or Singtel based MVNO customer ported over to circles or MR, M1 gained customer.

Likewise, m1 can easily lose a customer to starhub on giga or redone.

Hence, I think with introduction of MVNO, it's actually helping these MNO to get new subscribers base without them doing anything.

So this probably made TPG's entry even much harder because of all the competitive prices by MVNO?

I think May will be a much higher number as someone here mentioned a steady queue about 2 weeks ago to collect SIM card at the Orchard Road office.

Definitely higher. I am not surprised anyone will not mind to sign up $10/50GB just to play or test it out as a second SIM. We have easily 100k or such users in SG? Like the next best at that price is Giga and MR $10.

The issue with TPG is their unpreparedness.

No response to using delivery to meet customer. One store running 10hours at 60 person per hour (3 counters, 3 mins to serve 1 customer per counter on average). Per day average 500-600 customers. One month maximum 15-18k customers? By the time the hype is over, people will move on.

If you can add delivery, $2-4 per delivery and the SIM will reach end users faster. Poor underground coverage with inability to get hold of the SIM fast enough will diminish end users perspective of the attractiveness of $10/50GB.

I believe TPG took too long to get the coverage up to mark. Maybe not their fault.

how come these two days no TPG trial users come in to update if their TPG sim card be still be used?

1) For those who opted to switch to the $10 50GB plan on website
2) For those who opted to terminate the line after 30 May 2020 on website
3) For those who did not opt for any of the two options above on website

My personal line 1) no updates from TPG to top up account or any indication of migration to the paid plan.

Family member's line 2) line still active and able to use.

My free trial TPG SIM card is still working despite expiry on 4 June but I'm expecting it to be terminated very soon. I'm going to collect my port in new SIM card from TPG today.
