Thanks for your suggestion, my usage is ultra low. In fact my usage is well below 5gb/month. The cheapest international data roaming provider in Malaysia is charging additional rm99/month(maxis)…i only need Redone or TPG for my incoming sms for banking purposes or maps when travelling

Currently in USA, roaming on TPG is not working well at all, despite me setting the correct APN long before flying.

Managed to get onto T-mobile for a few hours at first, but now for the last few days my S20 has been on "No Service", and the sim card keeps reseting itself and auto changing APN from TPG to "Orange World" and back to TPG every 5 minutes. But still no connection, instead draining my battery very quickly because of this. Quite disappointed.

Anyone else have issues with roaming?

Are you able to connect to AT&T? T-Mobile and AT&T are the preferred partners there.

Orange World / Orange France is required for Roaming in many countries on TPG SIMBA plan.

Observations

in town area, CBD or Bukit Merah zones, speeds are pretty good (100-120mbps/8-10mbps D/U).

In Clementi last Sunday, it was very bad at bus stop outside the mall, 2mbps/0.5mbps D/U speed.

I believe in town area, most didn’t use SIMBA but sticking to more traditional ST/SH/M1 networks.

when you move further away from city area, more people use it and the speed tends to be lower due to overcrowding.

overall, because my main line using SIMBA is in town area most of the time, it is still good for me. My work phone is SH.

Yes, finally managed to get it by manually selecting AT&T, for some reason manually selecting T-mobile constantly fails.

However, between having to manually select Orange World APN and manually select AT&T, the experience is unfortunately much less ideal than my previous experience with M1 Data Passport.

That said, $10 is pretty much unbeatable for the free roaming

Given the fact that M1 Data Passport is at least $12/mth (and now US Data Passport isn’t in that tier?) excluding the activation charge, even if it’s not ideal, you need at least 3GB extra to cover up the price gap.

that excludes the standard subscription payable to M1, which is currently at least $15 (for 5GB Bespoke SIM Only)?

On price alone, TPG roaming is hard to beat, unless you have some crazy data usage requirements (like maybe for a family vacation of 3 weeks).

Having said that, I also find their roaming to be a little hit & miss in my rather limited experience of using it in just a couple of countries. The list of partner networks published by TPG on their website seems 'optimistic' (to put it nicely) & it certainly seems to require a little bit more fiddling to get it to work, compared to say using Starhub Prepaid data roaming (which used to be my go-to solution for data roaming).

Anyway, the roaming is like a free bonus anyhow for my $10 plan so I'm not complaining. Just to be aware that there are limitations. Personally, I find that in most countries, a local prepaid SIM card is generally still more cost effective and reliable.

Hi can check which state or town are you at? I am considering to port from M1 to TPG for usage in US as well but afraid that the coverage will not be good.
With the recent SIMBA superroam plan, it seems quite good if we can received SMS for our OTP overseas and can have 10gb data roaming per month as well.
But if network is bad. Then might be better off to port to a cheaper plan and get another sim from mobile provider there.

Perhaps you should check out the prepaid plans available in the US; it might work out cheaper to get the $10 plan + US prepaid card, compared to $25 every month.

Do note that with TPG, there is no way to change plans without porting out & in again, so it's not like you could use the $10 plan, change to superroam during the months you travel, then change back to $10 during the months you don't.

Also considered this as one of the options.
But I also check the US plan isn't cheap as well. Can be 25usd with 8 gb of data or 50usd with unlimited data.

So with the superroam plan of $25, it might be better? Since got IDD call in US and can receive smses for OTP purpose etc. But if the network etc is not reliable for TPG there, then might consider the $10 option to hold the line and subscribe another in US

TPG 4G Voice App does not work in Orange France roaming mode, which includes the USA if I'm not wrong.
