According to their FAQ, yups. Don't know why they can't make it online only. Lol.

maybe due to security issue.
SIM swap attack can happen if somebody manage to trick the telco to send them a replacement eSIM QR code. When the attacker manage to take over your phone number, all your SMS OTP end up may route to the attacker instead.

Suppose the hacker even know all your personal information to convince the customer service officer to request for eSIM replacement to hijack your mobile number, usually telco will sent the eSIM QR code via the email registered so the hacker will still need to take control of your email as well which is not easy.

eSim is useful for 2 scenarios.
1. Those who want to carry multiple lines but limited to 1 SIM slot. Usually iPhone users.
2. You don't want to move your ass to collect SIM card or while overseas don't want to take the trouble of finding a shop, queueing up to buy a local SIM and borrowing an ejection pin to insert it. Very useful for overseas trips. But for home country SIM, I would rather keep physical SIM that allows me to insert into any phone I like at anytime, unlimited times!

I will keep physical nano sim until the day where there's no charge for eSIM transfers.

Some addictions are hard to break. CallerID used to be free for StarHub CORI, now it’s only free for the first 6 mths.
That's why I ported most of my lines out from big 3 telco to simba.
Flat rate inclusive of GST, caller ID, private number, outgoing unlimited to mobile numbers, 100gb, free data/calls roaming in malaysia and colleagues and friends can still reach me when I am in JB for 3 days.

Down side of simba is some areas, data is slow but most of the time, it's usable for me.
Now I left with one singtel line, contract ending in Aug, deciding whether to port out as well or just get the cheapest plan to downgrade to.

physical better for android users.... esim no choice for ios users
Ya, main device is iPhone and no choice but to go for esim. If my main device is android, then will stay put with physical sim.
