Can’t apparently. So every time wanna change device, for SIMBA eSim users, you’d need to make a trip down to service centre (only orchard & kb only!), pay $5, to generate a new QR code in order to change your device.

for the same $5, you could change to physical sim, which I did.

I think this esim too inconvenient for me if gonna change device every year or so. Plus travelling, waiting time and expenses to make the trips I’m sticking with the physical sim option for now.

not sure if it’s unique to esim in general or SIMBA though
So it’s still better to get a physical SIM card?

Ya! So, pSIM is still the best! eSIM is troublesome and can be disastrous! :poop:

Firstly, in the event that your eSIM-phone cocked up and you have a spare phone to use immediately but you can't due to the obvious reason....LPPL!

Again, imagine that you are in overseas and your original eSIM-phone spoiled, and even if you managed to buy a new phone but still can't use it due to the restriction of eSIM transfer. LPPL again! :giggle:

However, with pSIM. You can just pop out and pop in the pSIM into your spare or new phone and start using it in no time!

So, go for pSIM if you can. Avoid eSIM at all costs except iPong users who need 2 numbers in a single Pineapple!

Can i check anyone here using samsung zfold 5 and roaming in Australia?
My phone keeps getting disconnected and eventually will not log on at all.
This only happens in Australia, other countries that i visited have no issues at all.

Obviously, all telcos would encourage you to go for eSIM as it saves operating costs for them comparing to issuing you a pSIM! :sneaky:

Esim has no benefits over psim now, until it is totally free and easy to transfer between phones unlimited times.

Whether is esim good depends on individual, no right no wrong.

To me esim is good as I travel a lot. My main psim which is default for all my SG communication, sms/otp. 2nd line esim I do not have to keep "poking" to change the sim card when going oversea n back to SG.

I change phone maybe after 1-2 yrs, I am using Simba esim and do not mind physically go n pay a $5 unless I change phone every 1 or 2 mths then it is a hassle. Some esim providers even send me the QR code via email with no additional fee.

As for mobile faulty, I am lucky (touch wood) for past 10+ yrs, no mobile has failed me during my oversea trip or staying in SG.

You r willing to pay $5 does not mean others are willing to pay too, thus limiting the usefulness of the esim vs psim. No? How many r jumping over to esim? u get the point?

When the conditions I mentioned above becomes real, then u can see most will adopt esim when they change telcos.

A temp esim for traveling sound logical since it is for 1-time use.

As I mentioned it depends on individual. Just for me, myself only, my phone costed me $1k plus, what is additional $5 for 1-2 yrs? Again, not all providers want this $5. Some are free and via email.

If u keep looking at the bad points, ignoring the good then u are absolutely right, physical sim card is better. I do not dispute that.

exactly it’s subjective to individuals in my post too.

for me too inconvenient currently. I think if the svc centres are widely located and available still not that bad

Hi all, can i ask for some help please ?

I have 2 simba mobile line at home (both microsim) for family members, one senior plan and one autoroam MY. The senior plan is using iPhone 12 and i can see 5G on the network. However, the Autoroam MY is using an iPhone 13 Pro max but i can only see LTE on it although both phone is at the exact same place. I have done the APN: TPG obviously for the iP 13 PM but somehow cannot connect to the 5G network (have tried both 5G Auto and 5G On mode). Any advise please ? Thanks
iOS version must be above 16.4 to use SIMBA 5G. Maybe you should check on that.

Should be asking whether is the test done with a phone having n40 5G band. Simba 5G uses n1, n38 and n40 bands, but only the n40 has the big bandwidth. Simba themselves mentioned must configure to use their n40 band, so even if a phone got 5G signal doesn't mean it is connected to the n40 band. Those phones with China ROM usually don't have this n40 band. I nearly wanted to buy a new phone with China ROM, but after reading up, I think I won't be getting good speed without the n40 band.

That's not all, the best 5G speed rides on mmwave, some chipset has it, some don't. Like the Redmi note 12 Pro using Dimensity 1080 chip, it has mmwave, but come to the new Redmi note 13 Pro using Dimesntiy 7200, that chip don't have mmwave even though it is a newer version.
Firstly, almost all 5G phones sold in Asia support do support n1, n38 and n40, so it should't be an issue. There are indeed some phone do not support n40, but, SIMBA is not using n40 anyways. Currently it is only using band 1 for 5G.
https://ibb.co/Xx6NVVH
NRARFCN 422910, frequency 2114.55MHz
b40 is only used for LTE now.
Thirdly, mmwave is not used by SIMBA. It is only used by the other 3 at very limited location for testing purpose only, so no need to care about mmwave in SG.
