improve because of 5g .. try speed test :)
Lol dont dare to try, later disappointed, but as long as I can load the sites which I previously cant then ok le :D

When did you last use Simba?

In the last 2 years, they:
1. Bought new 2100MHz spectrum which doubled speed in low signal situations
2. Updated their CA configs to be less shitty in low signal situations
3. Increased the number of base stations by 30%
Last Aug/Sep ;)

Their 5G SA will only have 10MHz of spectrum on band n1. Maybe 100Mbps if you're lucky.

The draw of 5G SA is about how it better utilises spectrum and supports new technologies like VoNR, not always about pure speed. In Simba's case, their 5G SA will be faster than 4G on the same band, but their 4G is already so slow, so 5G just needs to reach 100Mbps to be faster lol.

Simba doesn't have enough spectrum for 1Gbps+ 5G unlike the traffic light telcos.
Agree.
The other 3 MNOs are faster when running 5G SA, compared to their 4G LTE, because they have 100MHz of SA spectrum in 3500MHz band which is fast.

As for SIMBA, only 10MHz of spectrum in 2100MHz confirm will be slower than 5G NSA, or even 4G LTE, because when running 5G NSA, b40 can be used together with n1.
I guess they maybe will convert 20MHz of b40 to n40, when they want to enable SA. Maybe can do DSS.

Intent to travel to TW using SIMBA mobile.
1. How is their signal in the Taipei and Hualien district, any issue?
2. If the 1GB international roaming used up half way, will SIMBA allow me use beyond 1GB and bill me after?
3. Better to topup cash before or during the trip?

Appreciate your response. Thanks

Seamless in TPE from my experience.
Top up to wallet, $4/GB, Pay-per-use charge is per 10MB.

Either, as long as you have access to topup.

Had roamed with simba from Kaohsiung, Tainan, Taichung with Simba, all is okay. They are using one of the best roaming partner in TW.

If you want to use more than 1GB of free data, you need to top up your wallet. If wallet is empty, your data cannot use anymore. I suggest top up $5 first, if not enough then top up again from the app using paynow or credit card

Just switched to SIMBA a few weeks ago. The network definitely pales in comparison to Singtel/Starhub/M1 and it's MVNOs partners. I was from Redone (which rides on Singtel), and it was faster and stable than SIMBA. Abit regret for switching, but the cheaper price is their selling point. I'll give it another 3months or so. If no imrpovement, i'll switch to another MVNO.
Redone is riding on Starhub network, from my experience it is more stable than Singtel MVNOs and Heya. Ported out too cos of the price increase from $10 to $10.90 in Jan 2024 though. 💲

Correct. Typo. It's riding under Starhub for Redone. Network is stable and fast. SIMBA network really patchy. Even loading this forum can take quite awhile. Abit regret, but for the price, i'll try it out another few months.

How long does Simba send out the Sim card? I applied on Monday midnight--240312 0200hrs. Today still have not receive the Sim card.

SG is a tiny ~800sqKm island, don't think the logistic would take that long. If Simba is so inefficient to send out, I guess their service is not much better. I don't have much confident in them already. :cautious:
For the record, 7 days after I applied and paid for the sim card, I still waiting for it. The customer service is hopeless, they claim I have the wait 5 to 7 business day for a piece of plastic that weigh a few grams. Speachless, before I even use their service, I already knew this company is lousy.

I'm going to just take it as I throw $20 to the drain and never ever bother with them. (n)

Do you remember which TW telco they are using? On their website says APTG 亞太電信, which by right is not so good.
But recently APTG merged with FarEasttone 遠傳電信, which is much better. Maybe SIMBA roaming is able to connect to FET now?

i just come back from Taiwan (Kaohsiung, Tainan, Chiayi, Chunghua, Taichung, Miaoli, Taoyuan, Taipei) 2 days ago.

Roaming with GT-4G. Tried manually to register to other telco (fareastone) unable to do so.

GT-4G is generally fine in the cities, webpages load fast. The only problem i faced was in Yangmingshan where at the top, there was no network.
Or is it possible that even name says GT, maybe already using FET's base stations :D

Better to self collect
07.00am - started port-in process from Singtel to SIMBA

11.30am - collected SIMs

11.05pm - Singtel cut me off

01.11am - port-in successful!

Very fast!! 👍👏👏
... within 24 hours!

Disagree, RedOne is slowing sliding into Singtel mvno levels of unreliable data loading these past few weeks.
