My Simba plan 1 month is almost over, today received 1st email saying they try to renew but no money in wallet. I plan to wait until 30 days over and then port it out.

I understand there is 20 days grace period right? I wish Eight mobile allowed porting already.
You will only be able port out during the first 25 days of your plan cycle.26th-30th day the plan is lock for renewal and if no renewal, plan will be suspended for 21 days during which you cannot port out.

Did you get this info from the customer service?

Suspended is a very strong word, which they dont use. They mention, they move to a basic plan with free incoming and basic internet speed, which means the service is active.

How do you know sa is faster than nsa? Did u do some tests? SA is only faster in certain situations, do you know? Anyway it's your call. We're just saying SA may not be any better than NSA.
SA or NSA, all come down to amount of spectrum available to determine who's faster.

Big 3 all have 100MHz of band 78. SIMBA only has 10MHz of band 1. Even if SIMBA runs NSA with 40MHz of band 40, that's still 2 times of spectrum difference. In real life, big 3 5G can average speed of more than 500Mbps, while SIMBA is <200. This is a difference when you need to download game updates, or do youtube 4K

Not sure if there were any recent changes but I successfully ported out on the 29th or 30th day after locking my credit card to prevent renewal deduction before.

Thanks, I want to avoid porting out during the 30 days, as this is my 1st month, if I port out there will be a $30 fee.

I just sent an email to support team asking if I can port out during the 21 days of basic plan.

On a mobile phone or tablet, 590mbps is over kill if watching yt nettlix.

no difference for youtube.

youtube 4k needs only 30Mbps.

but who is watching 4k youtube on phone's small screen. you can tell whether it is 1080p or 4k.

for 1080p, 10Mbps is enough.

The plan is suspended. You will receive sms informing you of the suspension status if you didnt do renewal by the due date. I wouldnt call a line that is not unable to make outgoing calls as active.

Feel free to check with Simba customer service or their dealers if after 30 days of non payment, will the line be suspended after that.

You might also want to refer to this link to have a read through to see if Simba does use this "Strong" word. Alternatively if you have sign up for simba line before, you can refer to your own critical information summary which you should receive by your email

Or you can of course do what you plan. Good luck.

Interesting, your CIS link seems to be from 2022 and it is outdated. The new one doesn't use the word suspension. Maybe they were forced to change their T&C? Anyways I have emailed their CS, I will update here their response. Thanks for your sharing, appreciate it.

dont think they are forced to change. but the word suspension is not the correct word to use as they still allow lower speed data and incoming sms. so better word is used instead.

I asked the CS a clear question, but I didn't get a clear answer :(

Hello,

I would like to know, if I do not renew my plan after the 30 days, during the 21 days of the basic plan, will I be allowed to port out to another mobile provider?

Thanks,

Dear Customer,

We regret that you wish to port out.

If you intend to Port-out or transfer your existing mobile number to a new provider, please proceed to liaise with your desired service provider at least 7 business day before your next renewal cycle to avoid further charges. Your account will automatically be terminated upon successful port out from SIMBA.

Regards,

So technically they haven't say that I am not allowed to port out during the 21 days basic plan. What if I go ahead and place the port out request? What will happen in the worst case?

if you have outstanding bill with simba, you can't port out.
this applies to all telco.

the worst case is you lose the number. also blacklisted.

Thanks. I won't risk it then. Will just renew the plan this month and then port out next month.

No leh, I feel it will be rejected if there's outstanding.
And likely you have to settle the bill before being allowed to port out, of course bearing in mind the dateline of the card termination.
Imo, blacklisted is more of you willfully ignore and just not pay by abandoning the number, which likely will be marked or blacklisted.

But how come there is outstanding, when they move to basic plan with no outgoing and throttled speed. But anyways, it is their T&C and we cannot fight it. I will just renew for another month.

Technically its supposed to be renewed isn't it, so there's where and why I say that its "outstanding".
You can give it a try, but at most just pay off and port or pay and you get to stay, then time for the port out again by the 3rd month.

Remember you can only port out the first 25 days of the plan.

By the way, my main idea was just to share they did mention the word suspension and didn't take note of the year . Apologies for that.

You can go down to any of the outlet and check what happens after the 30 days if you don't make payment.

Good weekend!

Talked about Simba 5G vs M1... just did a 5G test. Anyway, both watching youtube, etc with no issue.
