Saw some comments that Simba has improved quite a lot since the 3rd quarter of this year, that's why was thinking of switching over. Hope to hear feedback from existing users first before making a switch.
Some users here either have low expectations or just use Simba as spare/very minimally etc thus their reviews.. I can say just take it with a pinch of salt. My Eight data roaming in Johor Malaysia also way more stable and higher speeds than Simba. I previously read these good comments thus ported in from GOMO as my biz line and since then I've never used Simba locally for data other than overseas calls and roaming. If not bcoz of these value-adds I would have ported out of Simba long ago lol. Gonna try their inflight data roam (aeromobile) soon will feedback.

Hw's the connection on train between Ang Mo Kio MRT to Raffles Place MRT?

Currently using ZYM and thinking if should switch to either Eight/ Simba.

On the train, if watching youtube / tiktok, its always lagging/ buffering. Yes, I'm aware that MNVO customer have the least priority. Not asking for the fastest speed but more on reliable and stable connection.
part of my morning commute involves canberra mrt to orchard mrt

recently switched from circles.life to zym

i also have a simba line as secondary

no issues with youtube for all 3 lines

note 1: instead of app, i use firefox browser + ublock origin, cos that means no ads, not sure if that affects streaming stability

note 2: my commute hours for that stretch are slightly later than typical morning rush hours, around 9am-9.30am, likely less crowded, and less data traffic congestion during that time

note 3: as i recently ported, using 5g for zym. maybe i will switch off 5g and test with 4g, to see if there are differences

Can i ask? FIXED 4G or 5G Auto for Simba would be more stable?

i tried using 5G auto, i cannot call out or receive call even if LTE is switched on.
Maybe its just one off. Will try again later at night. ( Sons Phone )

Weird.

I collected a new SIM card from SIMBA counter yesterday.

accordingly, it would have been activated on spot.

however when I insert the SIM into my phone today, the phone cannot detect the SIM card.

Is this normal?

Shouldn't be the case. Cannot detect SIM card sounds wrong. Faulty card, or slot? If cannot detect network then check the APN and restart phone.

Anyway, having gone all the way there, I normally insert the SIM card and check there's line activated before leaving their premises.

Did you port in or getting new number?

Port in have to wait after portin successfully then can use, else no signal, nothing. There's no temp number for usage for simba

Just reached Vietnam HCM and travelled 2 hours by minibus to my wife’s hometown in Tay Ninh.

My honest verdict on Simba roaming: -

No VOLTE for Mobifone roaming network. Hence, can’t call / receive call using native phone app. Tried to use Simba Voice App in my Poco F4 but can’t receive call (I asked my father to try call me). But I can call him from the Simba Voice App.

Luckily I had bought eight $8 e-sim on my spare iPhone (10GB data roaming in Vietnam). I installed the Simba Voice App in iPhone and managed to receive call from my dad.

TLDR: Have a spare iPhone with Simba Voice App and enjoy unlimited calls with Simba in overseas. Can’t rely on Android phones even with settings: Battery saver - No restrictions

Thanks to everyone for sharing and chipping in with their experiences and feedback.

One year ago, I was contemplating between Simba and ZYM, and I choose ZYM.

Guess I will skip Simba again.

eight partners with Vinaphone, simba with mobifone & Vietnamobile.
Of the 3, Vinaphone has the best coverage (based on reports and maps via nperf and opensignal). That might account for being unable to receive calls on Mobifone network.

in my experience, mobifone coverage is good in cities, less so outside.
(I have not tried Vietnamobile)

Oh, you managed to receive VOLTE Mobifone calls in Vietnam last time? I tried toggle VOLTE many times on my Poco F4, but can’t see the VOLTE logo on my phone

VoLTE on Mobifone (Simba roaming)

VoLTE not available on Vinaphone (eight roaming), however i bought a local SIM, so that was good.
edit: per eight site, only data roaming in VN supported, not voice

did you try the sequence of Xiaomi-specific codes to disable VoLTE carrier check? Sometimes it works.

Oh, thought if in Spore already got VOLTE logo then no need to carrier check again.

Anyway, just tried, still can’t see the VOLTE logo

When I port in 2 months ago, the given sim card works for data for 2-3 days before the porting takes place.
Did not try voice call.
