Not sure if any of you encountered this but here’s my experience so no one else gets overcharged or double charged.

So i’ve been using my apple watch to tap in & out for months now & yes i do get sms alerts but call it carelessness or other wise, I didn’t notice $4.20 was deducted on most days!

I checked the SimplyGo app & it claimed i missed entry or missed exit. Which is rubbish because if i miss entry then how do i tap out? Its physically impossible!

So clearly despite the faregate opening & my apple watch beeping to indicate transaction, the stupid SimplyGo system doesn’t recognise most of it.

The other thing i noticed was on 2 occasions both my cards were charged! I have 2 credit card registered to ApplePay on my apple watch but only one card can be used each time. You can’t simultaneously select both cards. Yet they claimed i took the mrt at 12 midnight and made a deduction on the OTHER credit card which is neither the default card in ApplePay nor the default card in SimplyGo app!

I’ve started monitoring every transaction daily now & any more screws ups i’ll switch back to EZLink. SimplyGo is a good concept but execution is sh*t!

Always use the same means to tap in and out.

if you use one to tap in and the other to tap out, you will have missing exit and missing entry.

nothing stupid about SimplyGo. The only stupid things are from Apple. Til today, you can’t set a card for transit only for ApplePay.

I think you can write to SimpleGo claim back the over charge

If you have the SimplyGo app, you can click on the wrongly charged transactions(only those in green which means already submitted for billing to the respective card) and at the drop down list, click the claim button. It will ask for the entry and exit bus stop or mrt station. After submission, they will refund you accordingly after their investigation. I used to kena these and I submitted claims via this process and they refunded to the card accordingly.

I can empathize with the TS because likewise I've encountered 'missing exit' before despite the mrt gantry gate being open or the scanner gives you a tick (OK) symbol when exiting the bus.

it does pay (pun intended) to check the simplyGo and see if they registered the tapping. it is definitely still buggy even after rolling out now for what, 2 years?

i might jump back to ezlink because it has been flawless.

The problem is not SimplyGo problem. If you tap your physical credit card, unlikely you will have problem just like EZ-Link or Nets Flashpay cards. The problem lies with ApplePay and whatever pay you use.

I've encountered the same problem with physical credit card. so it's not just limited to those NFC payment modes.

Have your ever encountered problem with EZ-LINK or nets Flashpay?

I certainly have, but the rate is very low. Same for physical credit card.

The question is how many times we check our past transactions of our ezlink or the stored value balance each time we tap out? Even if there is, we might not notice. At least I check my SimplyGo app from time to time or certain accumulated transaction from SimplyGo charged to my card looks fishy.

You can add your ezlink or nets flashpay card to simplygo to track, too.

yes i experienced this many times and for some reason is for the same bus number so I think it could be due to tap machine and not whether its ios/credit card.

something I despise about transitlink is that when I am undercharged, they will surely rectify it automatically eventually.

but when i am overcharged and something quite obvious it seems that it is still up to u to put up the dispute

The same bus number means the same plate or the route number?

How could transit link know what to charge when there is missing entry or missing exit?

Hmm I didn’t realise that. I thought same card mah. Who’d have thought same card on different device not counted. 🙄

Same here. One more nonsense & back to EZLink i go. Whatever cash rebate i get by using my UOB One card for SimplyGo is not enough to cover these erroneous charges.
