The problem is not SimplyGo problem. If you tap your physical credit card, unlikely you will have problem just like EZ-Link or Nets Flashpay cards. The problem lies with ApplePay and whatever pay you use.
But there’s a limit to how many times u can tap right? I dont know about now but back in the day when it was still called ABT or account based whatnot, my MasterCard literally died on me. Wouldnt work for any contactless transactions.

Posted about it on HWZ & found out others had this issue too. Apparently there’s a max no of times one can tap & go.

1024 times of "wave" transactions.... not sure if they have removed this limit ...

MasterCard problem.

don’t think visa has such restrictions.

SimplyGo improved a lot since they first started. Last time apart from the glitch, many experienced cc being rejected after a certain numbers of taps. Imagine this happens during a transfer and one couldn’t enjoy the Transfer rebate. Think the banks issuing the cards have rectified this issue by now alr

Limit is a MasterCard issue which tbh nobody knows if MasterCard is doing anything abt as it's a legacy security issue, back when paywave was a new tech in those days to prevent over tapping misuse from loss card. Tapping is not as prevalent years back.

Well if its a mastercard issue im less worried since mine’s visa. Imagine having to replace your credit card so often cos you max out your taps. Such a pain especially with recurring payment then need to tell all the companies.

an example is when the bus did not register my exit, I proceed to take a train during transfer to end up at my actual end location, this is being registered, the end point and the timing of both trips.

The system still assumes the first bus as the actual trip all the way to the interchange and charges full.

But when the system erroneously did not register both start and end of trip for a week or so and so I did not get charged, some way or another system will rectify this automatically and charge me correctly.

the customer always loses in such systems. all these service providers will put systems in place to maximise their gains, at the customers' expense. even if it's their fault, they will wait and see if customer appeals (some don't even realise they were being overcharged).

otherwise how you think they make millions each year?

I have made a few comments on the unreliablity of SimplyGo but no one agree. They said it never happened to them.

This must be a joke, I get missing exit once a while even now.

Same, experience the missing exit issue when using Apple Pay on iPhone. The phone register and show tick, but the bus terminal didn’t register.

cepas card will also have missing entry/exit, especially when you move and tap at the same time. but the gantry will know this error and not let you through. for credit cards, the gantry system will not detect, so will still open, then charge you for the missing entry/exit.

That's why I always have the simplygo app installed , app will give notification of the ride the moment tap out. If it doesn't, then I know smth is not right and just kiv. Sometimes the tap take 1 to 2 days to sync, this was worst in the beginning but getting lesser now. It's work in progress still...

Fair enough if reader can’t recognise my iphone or apple watch or even the credit card itself & barrier doesn’t open so i go to station control. That’s what happens with EZLink card.

But it seems for SimplyGo the barrier opens regardless & you get billed maximum fare. And when you claim via Transitlink app they reject your claim.

Seems like a real sh*tty way for transport operators to make a quick buck. $2 per commuter per day is a lot of money!

I experienced no exit detected many times before. But I must say, in the recent 6 months, never happen already.

As for the limited 1024 times of wave transactions, it seems that Mastercard does not suffer from it these days. Perhaps they have coded to recognise transport use or ignore the 1024 times altogether.

Anyway, I always have another cc on standby, and worst case, I still have my NFP card as my last line of payment....

i suggest you set a weekly reminder to go through any anomaly in the fares. I do think simplygo is useful to help track such transactions, much more transparent than the previous ezlink card system with low transparency.
